View Full Version : It's a Monster

There is one word, its a MONSTER 574.5 RWHP and this is with no fine tuning, and I only ran the car to 6300 this is on 93 octane. I had no belt slippage with the new 8 rib setup. Tomorrow we massage it, the car in all probability could go over 600 to the tires, this is a 10 second car, if I can get traction. I will post more pictures of the car tomorrow, and I am going to try and figure out how to post data logging so you the members can see what we look for on the dyno.

This started out as some one sending me a check to go buy the 04 Marauder, then sending me another check to build the car the way I wanted to, so its a 03 Cobra crate motor, I sent it to Jim O'niel where he fully massaged heads with better springs and valves, we used FR500 cams, billet oil pump gears ARP fasteners, and head studs 50 pound injectors, custom twin fuel pumps with a KB BAP and a dash 8 braided steel returnless fuel system, ProAm air meter, 430 gears with stud girdle fully built 4R75W transmission, with my Transmission cooler, 3000 PI converter, rear engine cooling kit, Zack and Macs Control arms, Metal Matrix drive shaft, Bear front brakes and KVR rear brakes with KVR brake lines all the way around, for the forced induction it has my Supercharger setup with Vortech new JT trim, the car still drives mild till you drop the hammer, so I am very pleased with the progress

So basically this is a one of, and cant be compared to your other cars with your kit on it, or a kenny brown or trilogy car since it is a bolt in mod, rather than a bolt on mod like all of us have now? I mean the top dogs in the bolt on crowd are making 440-470 RWHP, while this beast is making what it does. Its impressive as a one of, but impractical as a project. You need to get that thing to nascar! Aside the cost of the car, what is your ballpark pricetag on this car?

MI2QWK4U You are card, I never meant to compare this to a stock Marauder, and your statement about impractical is your attitude showing again. Who are you to make this statement, seems to me if if have nothing better to say just stay out of the thread, but to educate you once again, once you aproach 450 RWHP on a stock block you are rolling dice, on the longevity of the motor, our motors have 2 Valve rods hypertectic pistons, this man wanted some thing unique, he did not want the run of the mill Trilogy Kenny Brown or Reinhart Performance supercharger kit, he wanted a balls to the wall car that could still be a daily driver, and last his lifetime, and this car will, but you have to admit my kit so far has made more power than any ones else, Zacks car at a TEN PSI boost level, 471 RWHP I have not seen any one post any higher numbers, I thought the members would like to see what can be done with a good motor, with good rods and pistons, as far as cost goes that is the customers buisness not yours.

Dennis, I know you arent comparing it to the others, thats what I said. The problem is you are so used to arguing over things you cant take a complement when one is offered. You are right about that car, it is a balls to the wall beast that is to be the envy of any Marauder owner. From top to bottom you built a top notch car. So accept the complement! I am not posting in this thread to compare yours to mine to zacks, I really dont care about any of that. Try not to judge what my attitude is if you dont know. Its a nice project, and the owner should be proud to drive it.

Well, with 502 rwtq that TC is going to stall a lot higher than 3000!

It's not likely anyone was trying to compare this to a stock MM. From the description is sounds more like a built motor FI and a definite one off.

Its impressive as a one of, but impractical as a project.

How? I'd think a "project" can be at several different levels...from simple "bolt-on" N/A builds all the way to frame up/"block-up" restorations/rebuilds.

Dave, you know you and I are buds, so I'm not trying to come at you...but, there is no doubt that this IS the fastest, baddest, most powerful Marauder on the roads now. Beats that turbo with 520 RWHP that some of us took a "spin" (and I use that term literally) in at our January breakfast....:burnout:

Man...I'm gone for a few days...had 265 posts to go through....and I see a bunch of...

This is the high 2% of the 2% crowd and I am glad to see someone going all out on this car. Price is going to be up there with the work on the heads and all. Being the top dog is never cheap.

So did you get there (generally speaking) entirely on boost?

Based on the charts you posted am I reading that you are pushing 20lbs of boost through the motor at 6300RPM?

Or did all that work include lowering the compression or an increase in displacement too...

Whatever way you did it, this is quite the accomplishment and the lucky owner is going to ***** himself when he first drives it.

This setup will really show how far you can push the limit and still be drivable every day (my main interest)

Please encourage the guy to become a member here..

I liked the hug you gave me in Ennis.

I agree Dave, Im just busting your balls like usual.
As far as Im concerned, every S/C, parts combo or stupid idea is to be treated equally.
All this jibber jabber hidden in the contexts of sentences the last few months, even from myself is destructive.
I cant help but feel that a yellow line will be painted in the parking lot of the hotel in Indy with Trilogy parking on one side and Vortech on the other. This sucks. When I drag race, I dont want to be in competition with you, Lidio or any one else. The only person Ive ever been in competition with is myself and that is still true.
So lets drink to the good time we're all gonna have in Indy and bury any hatchet looming over this site before we get there.

wow, that is really impressive. These new fangled small cubic inch motors really intrigue me. Even with 500 lb tq it seems to build up at a gradual slope. So different then the old big blocks like the Buick's and Old's that start right off on the chart in the 3 - 4 hundred's. Yet these things can make a 11 second car drive like a mercury GM.

hey MI2QWK4U for what its worth I took your tone as a compliment to Dennis and see where you are coming from as well. Most folks (IMHO) would not buy a car and instantly replace the engine with a monster like that. I bet Many of us would like to, but it just wouldn't be practical to the average person's budget - certainly not mine.

Well Steven, that was kind of my take on it, that it wouldnt be something that most of us would aspire to do. Its wonderful, im sure its well packaged, and will perform up to its numbers. I would love somthing like that, but its not for me, its one lucky owner. I cant believe I get flamed for complimenting someone!

While Ladyhawke and I were at Dennis' shop this past weekend, we were lucky enough for him to show us this car. Man o man is she a work of art!! From the valve covers to the intake tubes they all match, a kind of black & grey speckled color. Dennis did one beautiful job on the engine. We were completely envious of the owner. Only thing left to say is well done Dennis. :bows: :bows: :bows:

It is really like a dream car! I can't wait to see the final numbers.

I have noticed over the past several months a different tone. Someone starts a thread and they are frequently jumped on by 3-4 "challenging" them. Hey if you doubt what they are saying ask a question, nicer then making a contradictory statment.

Too many of us, myself included, have been acting like a bunch of old women on steriods! :depress:

You did compliment Dennis and his work on this car and I read it that way. The problem here, Dave, is that a compliment to Dennis from you is the last thing we expected hear. Your disposition preceeds you, and if your compliment is a sign of change, bravo!

IMHO, maybe Dennis wouldn't misunderstand a compliment if he wasn't attacked so often?

I'll bring the paint!

Dreaming is important, and actually seeing the reality that can be, only helps fuel the dreams of the unwashed masses, such as I.

Absolutely unbelievable! Just this week we are patting Lidio on the back (and continue to do so) for breaking into the 11's. Now we have a car which will probably be in the 10's. What talent is before us! The Lidio's, Jerry's, KB's, Dennis's that are around never cease to amaze me. Good thing that I have a wife or I would have sold my house and given the money to one of the true geniuses around here to build me a top of the line car! Way to go, Dennis. Can't wait to see the time slip. Better get some big, bad slicks to make that thing hook up!

Here is what alot of you may not know, Grant you this car needs brakes, KVR makes a smaller rotor and I like the kit. I went with bear on this car if you look at these close up you can see that the pads never make full contact on the rotor, the reason for this is Bear never made the correct Bracket so the pads set fully on the rotor, the original kit was 13" the they went to the 14" rotor but the caliper is set up for 13" rotors.
