So lately for I have noticed the Air Suspension Warning Light coming on when I first start the car. Just for a fraction of a second is blips on and then off. The compressor seems to be doing everything fine, comes on when I start the car and bleeds off when I close the door after turning the car off. I seached other threads on this but could not find anything on the warning light doing strange things. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks.

The air suspension light will always come on when the car is started to test the system just like the air bag light. Now if it stays on then you have a problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I just must have never noticed it before, now that the weather is better up here I will probably notice other things as well.
Thanks again.

This will be my first car with an aie suspension.
Are these durable?
Do they fail?
If they fail, what are the effects? Is the car drivable?
Thanks,
David

I had a 94 CV and a 97 CV before my Marauder and no problems at all with the air suspension.

The most common failure mode I have seen is the air bags eventually leak, usually due to dry rot (ozone causes it). What it looks like is the car will squat way down, at first after a few days, as it gets worse overnight, and if it is still not repaired after parking for a few hours. It will pump up when the compressor starts up. If the bags are still not replaced, the leak will eventually get so bad the compressor can't pump it up and will run all the time until the compressor is burned up. When this happens, the car is like a low-rider and bounces around on the rubber bump stops with sparks flying whenever you hit a bump.

Interesting... I've never noticed it either! But then again, I'm rarely in the car when I fire it up, since I prefer to hear it roar to life as I approach it, using the remote start.

I doubt you'll have any problems from the air bags for quite some time. I put 120K on a '92 CV with the HPP package and never had any air bag problems. Well, maybe once or twice when my mother-in-law got in the car. :) Oh, we're talking suspension......

Can someone give me some information??
When I use to start my MM I would here the compressor going on and when I parked the car I would here it bleed off. But now I really don't here anything happening.
Is this normal or do I have a problem? I installed a trunk organizer and a full size spare. Could this be a problem...to much wait??
Any help will be appriciated.

Same for me. Sometimes it runs right after start, most of the time it doesn't. Some times it lets air out after stop when I close the doors, some times it doesn't. As far as I can tell my father's '93 Crown Vic LX HPP behaves the same. It's normal as far as I know.

Did you ever take yours back to the dealer for this problem??

My 04 Vic sport air ride is messed up, when you park it overnight the bags will loose all there pressure. When I leave for work in the morning it's sitting on the bump stops. And of course, my Ford dealer can't find anything wrong...

I used to drive a 93 Town car witht he same air suspension. The bleeding is ok. It is just letting off excess pressure out of the bags once the compressor is off. And yes they will fail, but they do make coil springs for our cars also. If it comes to it and you don't want to drop $150 for a new bag, get a set of coils and a really good set of rear shocks and you won't know the difference.

This is not a problem. This is normal.
When I take my fat a$$ out of the Marauder,
it sighs a relief, and that's what you are seeing.

I think hearing the compressor when you start up is normal, especially when it's colder outside in the morning than the night before when you parked.
The cold would make the air in the bags contract, and since the load hadn't changed, as soon as you turned on the ignition, the compressor would start to level the car.
Neat test would be to get someone to sit in the trunk before you started the car, the compressor would adjust the bags, then have them jump out and shut off the car.. should hear the sigh as the air is released.
