After I took the bracket off under the master cylinder to freshen up the paint on the brake booster I find this. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/15/tu8etuvy.jpg. Rear seal leaking in back of Master Cylinder ? Might have to wait until I Get this motor back in and running !

Black!

Might want to check the booster.

Looks like it might have seeped @ the back of the M- cylinder and dripped down the back of the booster. Nothing on the frame rail showing that it was a bad leak . I'll have to read up on these new fangled brake systems before I go any further

When I replaced my master, I found out that the NAPA PN was incorrect...The hard way.
The listed part for a 2003 CV PI finally had the correct nipple sizes to work...

I replaced my booster and master cylinder and found the same thing. Also, find the black plastic vacuum box and snip off an inch or two of vac line for a better seal. Your brakes will be much better, that is if you are suffering any issues.

I've only put about 30 miles on this car since I bought it 13 months ago. I've got the motor ready to go back in but I'm in the process of cleaning up the engine compartment and found this. How hard a job is it to replace the MC ?

I'd bench bleed it, install it then gravity or pressure bleed the entire system. In fact now is good time to flush the system. Hopefully you won't have to cycle the ABS pump.

Bench bleed and gravity I understand, I haven't had to deal with the ABS stuff

If you get air in one (or more) of the ABS solenoids, there's a good chance you'll have to bring it to the dealer, or a mechanic with an IDS, to manually cycle the ABS pump to get rid of the air. Some have said to find a sandy patch and brake hard to trigger the ABS and that will cycle the air through, but I think that may be more hit-or-miss.

That's what has me hesitating ! I can't take it to a dealer until its running so I'll clean it up and go ahead with putting the motor back in and deal with the brakes afterwards. I was hoping someone would suggest to tilt the master cyl forward and take the circlip out, and replace the back o- ring on the piston to stop the seeping. As I said earlier I only put around 30 miles on the car before I parked it due to rod nock and I didn't notice a problem with the brakes being weak or spongy
