So, with an Eaton swap on the drawing board and needing new rear tires, should I splurge for two new 265 50 Nittos at the best price of $425 installed out the door or jump on a set of 2 used 265 50's (Nitto 555's) I just found for $75 plus ~$40 installation and save the rest of the $$ for widened wheels and new 295 Nitto's?

I forgot to mention the 3rd option of getting a set of NEW 295's and stick them on the stock wheels (until I get the stock wheels widened), but that makes me a little un-easy even though there are a few that have done it with no issues....

Update, I went and looked at those used 265 50 Nitto's. They were a smidge better than what I have now. But, got him down to $20 for the pair and figured what the heck. Good looking tires and tread pattern. I tenatively have a trip to the local track again with my oldest son in a couple weeks. So, I figured I could waste the rest of the stock rears and at least have a fall back option until I make my final decision.
Meanwhile, I know someone at a local tire shop with whom I just discussed the 295 tire on stock wheel topic. As he was pricing out the 265 50 Nittos and saw how expensive they were compared to some 295's, he said they should be ok.

Widen wheels look cool on the street but don't help with traction. Will still spin. Only useful for track use.

My widened rims with 295's hold significantly better than the stock wheels at 255's on the streets... I spin into second but not through it on 295's. On 255's it's a **** show...

Yeah the more tire you put to the ground the better the traction. I don't get why widened wheels won't help. The same logic at the track applies to the street. But at the same time useless if you have no mods and not a autocross junkie!

haven't seen (maybe I missed it) where anyone talked about putting the OEM size tires on a widen-9" or 9.5" rim. I know a 245 will fit on a 9" rim because Ford did that back in the '90's with the Cobra R rims but anyone stretch it to 9.5 with a 245? Got a almost new 235 & 245 OEM BFG's left from my totaled car so when time to buy new tires(later this year) wanted to put it to use but also wanted to widen my rears to 9.5

Weldcraft in Detroit, MI..I believe it is around $250 per wheel and i hear they are on a 5 week delay/turnaround at this time (maybe not all the time) I think someone out in NJ, a member, posted up ap lace that did his just recently..I'll see if I can find the thread
Here is the thread about palce in NJ..it is more $$, but maybe shipping to/from is less if closer than MI

Why would you want your Marauder to look like this?....

Sell the almost new BFG's and use the money for a set of 255 & 295 Nittos.

Buy both....blowers need air, oil, and rubber to work correctly. So I've heard.
