man, just because someone questioned Dennis' authority on fuel filters, we lose a whole thread that had some great pictures and helpful installation tips to install the Reinhart fuel filter which just arrived at my door today. Come on, this should be an open neighborhood to post your opinions... at least that's what I thought i contributed money for?
anyway, this cheeses me off, sorry to vent. I'd be grateful if someone could tell me if they were able to get to that bolt that holds the fuel lines to the frame.. I'd like to take it out to cut the stock metal tubing with a tube cutter... otherwise i will have to use a hacksaw to cut the lines, and then i have no way to flush the system to get the metal shavings out. it looks like i have to cut the metal lines anyway... i hope so cause here goes.....

I think you are overly concerned here, but try calling Zack at 708.476.3647. I'd expect him to be in his garage too.

Pull the fuel supply line at the passenger side intake connection before any shavings can cause any damage.
Dump that into a coffee can by cranking the engine for 30 seconds, all spoiled fuel will flush out by then.
Reconnect and fire her up, you're good to go.
Run that spoiled gas through a strainer before you use it for anything, you're the one using a hacksaw for this, not a tube cutter.
Wasn't nothing in the "missing" thread about this anyway...

thanks for the patience, and THANK YOU to Mr. Reinhart who called me at home to help... once I found my correct size box wrench, the fuel line retainer bolt came out w/out problem.. then i was able to get the tubing cutter to do a half circle around the pipe, enough to cut it and bend it to break off... whew... easy when the right tools can be found!

No doubt, I checked my saved link for future reference...'all gone'.
Now why would someone delete a thread regarding a new mod, and info regarding the installation of it?
Is it no longer available? Did I walk the fence too long? Damn, and I was finally sold on this one.:depress:
Hope you got it hooked up well Dare....you'll have to show it to me on the 17th at Rush's meet.

Hate it when we lose good info like that. I already ordered the larger filter and bracket from Ford so if anybody needs the part numbers email me. I don't have the part numbers for the straight fittings, I guess I'll try and get them from 89lxbill. I'm staying n/a so I think the DR solution is probably overkill for my needs.

I have no technical knowledge, but my observation when I took off the oem filter and cut the oem steel lines, was the 90 degree bends in the rubber fuel line extensions that fit into the filter looked like an after thought by Ford. I cut into one of the rubber bent pieces at it's bend, and the inside diameter was smaller than you think due to the bend and compression of the hose..it is liek bending a copper pipe 90 degrees, you lose diameter at the bend... this, plus the fuel flow throught the stock filter, must have been what Dennis showed on his dyno as causing the lean condition from low flow.
Anyway, who knows what's needed, although this mod can't hurt. Given Dennis called me at home... made me start to find some more free cash to place another order with him.... the torque converter is next.
Now that you have the new setup, do you notice any difference? Easier starts, any "seat of the pants" differences in how she drives?
