Will a standard GM steering wheel work with it's clock spring?

I am having a hard time finding a Marauder/well equipped TC/GM clock spring. I am thinking about simply putting on a standard steering wheel that has the 5 buttons as suppose to 10. Steering wheel and it's clock spring. I will transfer my air bag.

As long as the wire clippings by the petals work, will this work? I need the horn and cruise control. I do not care if I lose the climate control or skip to next song function.

Will this setup work?

I thought Becky fixed this? Why downgrade (and have to buy a wheel) when it only costs like $90 to fix?

Becky did the change properly, but the junkyard one I purchased has the same problem. No horn.

Lack of capital to spend is the answer. A steering wheel is $10 W/O air bag and the clock spring is $12.

On a personal note, I will have zero income next month so I am pinching every penny.

In the end, all I care about is getting the horn working again.

Have you checked fuses and power to the horn?

Also swap the horn relay if the fuse is good and your not getting power at the horn. Make sure the horn is grounded good too.

Yes I have.

All good.

I have pushed the lock on the remote and hear the relay working. I even went to a dealer, they hooked up the horn to something and it worked. They were the ones that told me I need a clock spring.

Seems to be another "When, not if, it goes out" for Marauder parts.

Curious. What do you need a horn for anywho? I don't think I've ever used mine! Just like the pedal adjust, or any of the climate control buttons, or the spare, or the map lights, hell I just get in and drive that somebitch! :D

Cyclists, idiots, people not moving on green lights, people running red lights, being cut off, making sure you locked your car...

City life.

We need horns here. Haha.

Would the steering wheel swap work?

You could hook up an external pressure switch and tap into the horn wire in the steering column for the mean while until have more funds down the road.

You can't borrow a Benjamin from a relative/friend and have it fixed per Justbob's advice? It's only a c note....

Borrowing money from a friend is a good way to lose one.

I can get this done with proper instruction.

If it doesn't honk the horn when you do the double lock with the remote then the problem causing your no horn isn't the clock spring. The problem is the relay, the wiring between the relay and horn, or the wiring to the relay. Just because you hear the relay clicking does not mean that it is good, nor that its power supply can conduct enough amperage to make the horn sound.

Power goes from the fuse to the relay power in and coil power terminals. The horn button through the clock spring provides a ground to the relay's coil to energize the relay. The LCM also provides a ground to the horn relay when you hit the lock button twice w/o passing through the clock spring.

The horn takes a fair amount more current than the coil for the relay so a poor connection or wire on the supply side of the relay can allow enough electricity to flow to energize the coil but not enough to sound the horn.

The quick and dirty first test is to swap the relay with another one and see if you can honk the horn with the switch and/or the remote. The Fuel pump, air suspension, and PCM relays interchange.

I've borrowed money from friends in the past....they are still my friends because I paid them back, which is the key to not losing one....

I do not trust myself enough to handle the responsibility at this time.

That's life... my life.
