Buying one of their hoods is like rolling the dice, mine took almost 40 body hours to make "nice", then a year and a half later, all their epoxy had dried and shrank causing dimples on the outside skin where the glue was holding the inner/outer panels together.

Hood was stripped, re-gel coated, epoxy primed and painted again, so far, so good, only have 3k in it now.

I guess it would ok if you

a) have loads of money
b) have a low expectation for the hood
c) are blind
d) all of the above

I was not the only one to have "issues", do a search, you will see other have as well. But in reality, like any custom part, it is going to take time and money to make it work in conjunction with other parts.

Listen to what spectregod says. I wanted to get one for my MM, because they look really cool, but unfortunately there's a LOT of neg feedback on them, which is a bummer. I work next door to VFN Fiberglass, and was thinking of throwing the idea to them.

Here is what I would do if I wanted or needed a big bump in my hood..
1. Go to the bone yard and get three hoods off other panthers cars..
2. take them to a local tech college that has auto-body repair class
3. make sketch of what you want,, leave it with the instructor and hope for the best..

Last I counted i was right around $1,900 into it... But now it's finally done shrinking, I hope, and time to get it redone. Again.

Its always a tuff decision on a fiberglass product especially when they arent built as solid as they should be, if you do buy one let it sit in the sun for a few days and shrink, then repeat the process a few days later, that will help a ton! between the hood, and paint im at $1,100 love it so far, i have the MOTOWN (powerbulge) edition!

I have hood #1 of the 2.5" power bulge and it's been fine, underside was never painted, only the topside and that was without major prepping. I do have some bulging on the driver side but that's due to the gas shock and not really an issue to me. I like the look and the functioning heat extraction.

As others have said it is hit or miss with the hood, some have needed it for clearance, some get it just because it brings a different look to the car.

What are your current mods?

I've had my hood painted 3 times and I keep getting cracks in the bondo in the same spots. Thought about getting something else, but after reading this, I'm content. 2nd body shop tried twice after offering their "lifetime" warranty on all work, then said FU to me when it failed again. They hid behind the insurance company that said they wouldn't pay for it to be painted again because it was a "custom" hood. Rat bastards.

Yes sorry mine is the cowl induction, was thinking about your hood when I was typing. Mine is off ImpalaSlayer's car which is pictured on their site. So we are both number 1 owners. lol

If you have no mods then get a TUNE from MO's and a JLT or K&N intake. These are about the same price as the hood with shipping. (if not less than actually)

It's an oem hood with a Z28 cowl on it. It's Justbob's old one. I bet he wants it back. ;)

They probably did minimal body work and a re spray, my buddy stripped my hood down past the gelcoat, reapplied a self leveling gelcoat (I never heard of it before either), urethane primed and blocked 3 times and painted, so far so good, mine is painted on both sides, center underside is painted black, all the smooth surfaces were painted to match the car.

The only saving grace the second time is that the hood had already been fitted to the car.

If I had to do it all over again, it would be a custom steel hood for the same money. But it does look good, and the blower doesn't touch this one.

Get a tuner, look for a used sct xcal2 or 3. With a tune, you wont regret the purchase, with the hood you might
