I just finished waxing the Marauder after its new paint job. It was then I noticed that the rear bumper cover (where it attaches behind the rear wheel) is loose on both sides. Upon closer inspection, there are TWO push pins on each side. But, the bumper cover's holes seem to be a bit larger than the hole the pin fits in on the inner rear quarter, which is why the cover is "loose". So, a larger diameter push pin will fit thru the bumper cover's hole but not the hole in the inner quarter.

It appears there is a third hole on the inner quarter closer to the ground, but there is not a corresponding hole for the bumper cover. I am hesitant to drill a new hole in the bumper cover without consulting my fellow Marauder owners and ruin a perfectly good rear bumper cover.

What would y'all suggest?

Sounds like you just need new push pins

They are new and the correct diameter for the metal part (inner quarter or fender). It's just that the bumper cover's holes are a little bigger in diameter than the holes the pins go thru on the inner quarter panel metal. A larger diameter pin would go thru the bumper cover hole, but not through the metal hole on the inner quarter of the car. So, the bumper cover has some in and out play even though the push pin remains stationary (but is totally secure).

There is a bit of play there, not to worry!

It just seems excessive....

You could always drill out the inner hole the same diameter as the bumper cover and buy bigger push pins if its that sloppy. Also make sure every mounting point is secure.

It seems like if I only drilled a third hole in the bumper cover, that would do the trick. Are there only two holes or three?

Mines is the same way with a little play......I know "thats what she said".

There are only 2 push pins on each side but my CV had 3 pins. Not sure why MM never utilized the 3rd.

My CV was more snug than the MM too, guess they improvised.

If you do decide to drill the bumper cover for the third hole, be careful not to chip or damage the paint. Just my 2 cents.

Let us know if you do & the results.

After work, I am heading to Lowes. I think there is some kind of "grommet" or bushing that I can put in the hole to tighten up how the push pin fits. The other thing I was thinking about is that a small plastic or rubber washer might fit in the hole, too.

It's supposed to have some play in it for expansion/contraction. The cover starts to "wrinkle" along the sides if you eliminate the play.

I agree but the cover can move an inch or so on either side if you grab the outside corner by the tire and move it in and out. I noticed it when I was washing and waxing the car. If it was an 1/8" + or - I wouldn't care.

Mine sort of had similiar movement . I put new plastic plugs in from lowes or hme depot and it snugged it up without being rigid
