Around midnight I left work, I rarely drive. Earlier I got the car back from the dealer, it was not fixed, but they shined it up really nice... actually a detail for free, due to not being able to fix it at the moment. They are forgiven :)

Downtown Chicago this time of year has the best of the best cars out. Usually exotics, Ferraris are the norm. When I pull out into the street from the loading dock, the pipes are roaring, the paint is shining and the rubber is burning.

As I am roaring down the street people are outside waiting to get into a club and hear me coming down the street. They quit looking at the exotic parked in front of the club and look at The Merc. Not only do they look, but actually yell and cheer me on. I am not kidding, people got excited over this. It was not another Italian car, a GT3 or Infiniti (yes they sound nice) it was a loud American car. Something almost forgotten... or maybe it was. It really lit up the people waiting outside. I never thought the day would come where people were bored with $250,000 cars and get thrills from a $3,500 225,000 mile wreck going down the road... at least normal people, but it happened.

So how does the car not age? In this city, people are very judgmental of what you drive... as am I. Usually, no one cares if your car is over 3 years old or something really special and by special it has to make a 9 year old excited to look at. When we see a 2004 Mustang we know it's 2004, 2003 M3, we know it's 2003. 2003 Marauder is rare, special and sounds great with modified exhaust. (suck my tailpipes EPA) All of that goes out the window with a loud shining Marauder with exhaust notes bouncing off of the buildings.

As I made the final turn I forgot about the mud on the tires and it kicked out a little, yet stayed under control. In a way that you usually see in the movies where the rear end stays out to the side longer than it should.... car movies you boneheads. :P

It's things like this that remind me how fun and special the car is. You would not get these same kind of thrills from much else. Especially the highway clearing. Sometimes you get so mad at this car when it breaks (as anything would with this mileage and age) but you fall in love with it all over again... like a bad relationship.

Cheers to Maraudering, loud n' fast Maraudering. :burnout:

A beat to piss car ROARING down a quiet street usually does command the attention of everyone on that street.

BTW: They are watching you to make sure that you don't lose control and crash into their really nice 'exotic' cars.

I didn't do my tribute to Paul Walker power slide until I was far away from the exotics, but in a straight line that's another deck of cards.

Plus I slowed down by the people to make the turn. It was not quiet.

This city doesn't roll up their sidewalks at 9pm Joe! ;)

This was responsible immaturity.

This was responsible immaturity.

As I tell all my friends: "You're never too old to be immature".

Only thing I'd add is a change, "Like a GOOD relationship!"
