For the last two days I've been doing some work in the interior of my SB. I removed the radio, the gauge pod, the center console, the shifting assembly, the seats and the carpet. I changed seats, carpet and center console and then put things back together.

Now I have two issues.

First, I have a weird noise when I turn the ignition switch on/off. I have a short video where you can hear the noise. It is easier to hear it when I turn the ignition off towards the end of the video (video below).

Second, the airbag light in the dash has been flashing. I used my tuner to take the car back to stock and then back to the 4.10 tune to see if that would solve the issue, but it didn't. From a quick search I learned this may be related to removal/installation of the seats. I also read this may be something I need to have the dealer address.

Any help with these two issues would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You're not alone. I too have the funny squeaky sound when going through the ignition sequence and when I turn the car off. I would like to know what it is as well.

How long have you had this issue? A friend mentioned it may be the EATC.

Well...really ever since I got the car I guess, but that was just a week ago. Don't recall hearing it when I was test driving it. Sure do hear it now :depress: At least we know we're not the only ones!

Well, congrats! '03 - 300A cars are awesome. Relatively low miles too.

There is a sticky at the top of the shop page that may come in handy. First we need to identify what the issue is though. My issue baffles me because it started after I did some interior work. It is likely that I caused the problem.

That noise sounds like the a/c blend door. My car does it also. Annoying but you get used to it

Can this be even when I am not running the A/C? The noise happens when I turn the ignition on/off. I'll play with the EATC controls tomorrow to see if anything changes.

Thanks!

Yes, the system still cycles doors on its own when turned off/on. The air bag light is probably from leaving something unplugged. Count the flashes when u first turn it on, it'll flash a two digit code and Google search it. It'll be something like 2 flashes, pause, 3 flashes.

+1..... But it is not the blend door motor that's electric. There is a vacuum motor to switch the outlet you want to direct air out of.

Yeah i think pretty much everyones gonna get that squeak. I have it too ever since i got the car. Sounds like something needs lubrication

My 2000 MGM makes that creaking noise, too, and it has manual controls.

Mine only makes the noise when turning the car off, can't say I have ever heard it cycle when turning the ignition on though. Gives the 10 year old car more character. lol

We pick up all the funky sounds after we do something to our cars

Shortly after I bought mine, I remember hearing the weird hiss/squeak right after I shut off the car. I don't remember who explained it to me (I think it might have been Rex, RIP), but was told the sound was from the vacuum system in the HVAC and that it was pressurizing/de-pressurizing.

I can also hear it sometimes after i upload a tune and turn the key off (X3). It is the HVAC/blend doors resetting.

Pretty sure that is the blend door....as it open/closes. annoying but not troublesome.

sorry cant help with the airbag light unless the 03 seats are not compatible with the 04 wiring, or like said above you may have missed a plug some where.

For some reason -sometimes not always- when the cables get disconnected from the battery and reattached strange things just may go wrong with your perfectly functioning EATC and blend door.
Everything just goes to total S____t

I double checked last night. Everything is plugged properly. I counted the number of airlight bag light flashes and it gives me code 54. I forgot to look in my shop manual last night. A google search yield this:

DTC Code B2477 Module Configuration Fault – CHECK the part numbers of the RMC and passanger seat cushion. If a part number does not match, remove the incorrect part and INSTALL a new part as necessary. If the part numbers do match, INSTALL a new RCM.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is an RMC and where is it? Hope this doesn't mean I have to open the passanger seat to get to the cuhion and swap electrical components.
Thanks!

Good Job Ford!

You are right, I should be greatful! I did disconnect the battery. The car has an alarm and it went off four times on Sunday as I was working with the interior (car unlocked). The alarm is LOUD and I am sure the neighbors don't appreciate it. I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the alarm and there is no means to unplug the siren so I disconnected the battery.

My car always made this sound. Didn't think anything of it. Never had any issues that related to it, so I let it fly.

Jeronimojc (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=12369) that is interesting so you did disconnect the battery cable and when the system was renergized all of a sudden your Ac system isn't operating in the same manner as before. I wonder now how long it will be before the blend door or the EATC completely fails. I hope nothing goes seriously wrong...

Like I said in previous posts this Ac system Ford put into the Panthers
S___ks its a POS.
