As the title says. Took her out for w ride this past Sunday. Drove her about 8 miles. 40 minutes later got back in her and she gave the normal rev start up to 1500 rpm or so, and then she wanted I die. Real rough idle at around 200 rpm. Battery light kicked on. Giving her gas gave no benefit. She would not increase idle.

I turned her off as I did not want to hurt anything. I tried to restart with plenty of cranking but no ignition. Called a flat bed and got her safely into the garage and even onto my lift. She is up in the air and will be looked at this weekend.

I just put a new battery in about 3 weeks ago. Thinking thatis fine. My thoughts are alternator, fuel pump or even the computer.

Any thoughts from the collective? I'd love to hear your thoughts. She will get running soon enough.

Thank you in advance.

Bill

I would look into the IAC (idle air control) also.

How long has it been sitting? Did you put StaBill in the gas if it has not been used very much over the winter?

i wouldn't think it would be the iac seeing as how when it was dying he gave it gas and the rpms never increased....maybe

I used to clean my IAC and MAF all the time with the MAF cleaner. The K&N filter would gum it up.

Only because you over oiled the K&N filter.

I wouldn't rule out a bad MAF sensor..insure you are getting fuel and spark first.

That is a good question. She was not driven much over the winter at all. No stabilizer in the gas at all. This Saturday I'll look into this. I like the ideas to think about.
Thank you.

My other hotrod did this once - it was bad fuel pump. As said, test for fuel and spark first.

Thank you. It's at the top of the list of things to look at.
