I'm thinking about having an exhaust cutout installed (not electric though) to be used when I run auto cross events. Something like this.

I'd have them installed just before the inlet to the mufflers. I'll just remove the cap on the flange on the day of the auto cross event.

My questions is, will this add any horsepower and what will it sound like?

I'm worried there will a loss of horsepower because of the loss of back pressure and it will sound like a pickup truck with no mufflers.

I did cutouts and tested it on a dyno. No HP gain. Save the money for better tires.

I did it too and showed 13 RWHP 11 TQ on the dyno but track testing my always consistent car yielded absolutely zero.

WOT sounds pretty damn good bolted right to a LT header flange, idle somewhat okay, normal driving sounds god awe full...

Save your money unless you like the sound of demolition derby cars..

Or buy the stainless electric ones sitting on my tool box!

@1.30 for regular exhaust & 1.42 for cutouts open. Notice everyone standing back.. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take that advise and leave the exhaust as is.

Check out last weekend's auto cross.

My co-driver beat me. But he races in the Big 8 Series at Elko Speedway. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.
