View Full Version : Whipple swap parts list thread (someone make a sticky)

We have the Eaton swap parts list thread and it helped myself and several others but there isn't one for the Whipple. I don't believe there are many more parts needed if you already have the Eaton swap with the cobra motor. But since members are starting to go that route it would be very helpful for those considering it.

The sticky should include pics like the Eaton sticky. Someone please make a sticky so we can start collecting parts!

You do know the whipple is a direct replacement for the Eaton right? Same list.

Like I told you in pm's...
Unbolt eaton, bolt on whipple

tdotcv

Yes I know the whipple bolts on but what I am saying is you don't only need the whipple, you need other parts too, which other parts will need to be added or replaced for example different belt tensioner, two fuel pumps, what size fuel injectors, what fuel system set up, throttle body etc...I think it would be helpful to create a whipple and other parts list sticky thread...doesn't anyone agree with me?

Some say no need for built motor if you have a stock cobra motor, just bolt it on, that's why it's confusing and I suggest a need for a sticky thread...there is one for the eaton how come not for the whipple...why keep a good thing all to yourselves. It's for member's who already have the eaton and want something more or for stock owners who want to go straight there.

it all depends on how much power you are going for

Its hard to build a generic list unless specific goals are set

Getting a whippled car to 500 and getting a whippled car to 600 will require seperate lists

but realistically

Everything on the eaton swap parts list minus the eaton
Whipple S/C of your choice
Built Motor
Built Trans
Built Rear End
Widened Tires to avoid :burnout:
60 or 80# Injectors
MOdded FPDM or Dual FPDM setup
Decision to stay returnless or go return style
Supporting Parts for ^^^

A trilogy kit has everything you need for that level of performance. A eaton swap adds similar performance to trilogy but it's more cost effective. When you go Whipple, Turbo, or large Snail then the parts list changes in a major way. The build list is determined by the performance builder. They usually know what it takes to make a high performance Marauder. What's in your wallet?

If your serious about a Whipple swap then educate yourself on what is needed and you won't have to ask obvious questions.

When I did the eaton swap I read the trilogy manual three times. I even memorized many pages and still do to this day. If there was a whipple manual for the Marauder I would have read it. It is a rare thing and finding information on about isn`t easy and common. I thought this was the best place to start looking for information from experience builders themselves...

This is a good place to start. Their are not that many Whipple Marauders, maybe 20 at tops. I have seen a ton of dumb questions on this site since I joined in 2002. Asking a question about modding a Marauder is one of the frequent topics on this site. I personally ask questions all the time and still learning. One of my best friends on this site had a major project using a procharger F1. He had no blueprint to work from. He asked questions on and off this site for years.

Easiest answer:

You simply can't make a "whipple" parts thread. Every car, every personal goal, and every wallet is completely different. Some things you just need to venture on your own by trial and error as well. Like my 6 speed. There wasn't a sole to ask for guidance, so I gathered up as much info as I could online and one day just started on it. Three weeks wrenching after work I was off to the dyno. I learned the hard way to build up my rear better and chewed thru driveshafts till I finally picked a design that would hold up.. Like I said, trial and error.

Now, if you simply asked what would it take to lay down 625 at the wheels with a 2.9, the flood gates would open up with info on what it takes. But you still have to decide your goals vs. your money..

Asking for a whipple sticky is simply to generic. I learned a lot on SVTPerformance and never once asked a question. Just hours and hours reading up on others builds.

If you don't have a conceptual understanding of what is needed beforehand, you should reconsider the project.
This is what I tell everyone.

OK, say I want to make 750 at the wheel without gas, I have supporting mods, currently have a twin screw, what do I need to go to to get where I want? Just curious......

A 3.4 at 25-27psi with E85 or Race gas. Even then you may not hit 750

Doesn't Whipple make a 4.0? Would that be a viable option? I figure the wiper cowl will be the sacrificial lamb.

Yes, DTub Doug has had one for two years now. I believe the cowl is intact. I'm not sure if he ever finished up the tuning on it though. All I know is that seeing it in person is jaw dropping!

Great point Bob..........tdotcv, We can help you along the way on this build for sure. Like Bob mentioned above, the answers to these questions will help bigtime:

1. How much Power do you want to make.

2. Do you have a budget to stay within, if so how much?

When I did went to the Whipple my ultimate goal was to get up over 600. With this in mind I went ahead and went with 3" exhaust all the way back, beefed up the transmission, and went with 31 Spline. I ran the car the last 2 years at 553 RWHP and it ran like a champ. Now I've upgraded the blower from a 2.3 to a 2.9 and decided to go ahead and update the fuel system switching over to return style and twin Aeromotive 340 pumps. Right now I'm sitting at 614 @ 19Lbs of boost with the other supporting mods already in place.

Like I mentioned, we all can help you get there but answering those 2 questions will be the best starting point.

Yup! There's Doug's car. It looks like the 4.0 was made for the wiper assembly! "This entire car was built around the wipers" :)
