I just tried out the xcal 4 I received from Mo, I've got a question or two. The check engine light came on last time I was driving the car, the programmer read two codes: P0420 and P0430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Theshold Banks 1 and 2).

Selected the tune I am using until my gears are in, and it cleared those two codes, I assume they related to the headers I installed.

Now that the tune is installed, P1000 is showing (OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete).

I'm a complete rookie with this thing. Is this code simply a result of the changed tune?

Tony give me a call and I will go over this with you.

The headers were causing the code before the tune. The tune resolves that issue by changing the transport delay.

Yes, the headers caused the first two codes as the o2's sit farther down stream. IIRC a P1000 is a generic code for PCM not finished with monitors. Just drive it for a few days and check it again. Usually the P1000 will go away or it will be replaced with a code showing an actual failure somewhere.

Kinda what I figured. Pretty painless process so far!

Now that the tune is installed, P1000 is showing (OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete).

This one usually just means that the battery terminal hasn't been connected long enough for the computer to log enough data. I threw this code a month ago after leaving my battery terminal disconnected all winter and then reconnecting it and driving it to have state emmissions testing done. They told me that my car didn't fail, but the system rejected it because the OBD system was not ready. Passed after putting another 100 miles on the clock.

Ok, update. This is going to really show my rookie status and those of you with heavily modded cars may roll your eyes.

Completely different car. Everyone says it and they are right. I believe when I joined this site someone said "Welcome to the modness."

My new 4.10s are still sitting on the floor of the shop but everything is looking good. I took the car out last night for some fun and was getting second gear scratch :D. Hey, I'm used to driving a work truck loaded 24/7 with tools and material, this is new to me haha.

I'm looking forward to the gears and higher stall converter. By this weekend the gears will be in, and the tc to follow.

I know I'm not stopping there though. Right now I want to wring everything I can out of this car but I don't want it torn apart all summer. I want to drive it with minimal down time for now.

With the gears and converter you will be completely hooked.
Starting now you will always have room in your wallet as it will always be empty.:(
My condolences.;)

Well Joe I will be trying my first tune this weekend from MO'S I hope he is sending it out today, on a stock MM. I am starting to save now to take it to him next summer for rebuild, headers etc. I will be garaging it this winter then drive it down from Ohio I hope by June next year.

No need to resist, just start having your checks direct deposited in Marty's account.:D

I think I need one of those tunes or something for my Marauder, I'd love to be able to chirp 2nd gear......:burnout:

I still have to answer to Mrs Joe, not sure that's in the cards at this point.

I'm hard on my car. I'm the "previous owner" you don't want. Only two pedals, but one of them is always to the mat.
