View Full Version : Stockpiling MM Parts

As someone who loves the idea of buyin things with the idea that I will need them in the future at some time (glorified explanation of a pack rat/hoarder), I've been observin some tendencies on MM.net that I want some input on.
Is the general reason for buyin parts for the Marauder that they will only get more and more rare and, in turn, parts will only become harder to come by as time passes? Sure, some people need a part here and there to complete their Marauder or replace a worn out part. But sometimes I'll see a part and I just have this immediate urge to snap it up (even though I've not done so.....yet) because I'm just so sure that I'll eventually need it or want it at some point, even though that part on my car is in perfect workin order as of now
Maybe I'm just thinkin out loud, maybe I'm already answerin my question. Just wanted to throw it out there, hear some other members input that just might think the exact same way. We obviously all have good taste in automobiles, so there must be some kinda kindred thought on this!

If we had not just spent close to $70,000.00 opening up a virtual shooting range for the wife to run and teach CCW classes in. I would be buying things for that just encase the day comes I might need that thought.

Your obviously new otherwise you'd be telling us what you've recently scored.
I've been a member 2 years and I have already forgotten how much crap i have. By crap I mean it's my crap and no you can't have it. Yes I'm a hoarder, I actually get some form of anxiety when asked about selling my hoarded parts. Yes I sell stuff I make and have bought aftermarket stuff and resold it. But Oem parts :fishslap: back off
Luckily I have upstairs storage in the garage and at the shop :woohoo:

 Somehow I just knew that you would be one of the first to comment in this thread about hoarding stuff. I've seen you and others allude to this in other threads. Guess I should start early, huh?
Only thing is, I have a list of mods that I actually want to do (and need money for) to the car BEFORE I start hoarding parts. Haven't even had it a month and I'm already tempted to buy replacement OEM parts. :D Must.....control...myself! Must...spend money.....on 410s...first!

Some parts are harder to find than others so if your in need or want something down the road I would jump on it now if you come across it .

As a stockpiler of Marauder parts since 2002 - Reasons to stockpile: limited production vehicle.
manufacturer will only stockpile for so many years then parts are *OBSOLETE*.
OEM beats reproduction.
daily-driver / show replacements.
due to vehicle collectability, there will always be a market.
*Depleted most of my parts stockpile a few years ago and am now contemplating liquidating my memorbilia, literature, etc. collection.
Did the same thing in 1985> with SVO Mustang parts. Having no further use of the NOS, NIB items, I recently -SOLD- my inventory to a late-model Mustang parts supplier for $$$$$. Even at 50¢ on the worth-now-$1, they got a bargin, I made LARGE PROFIT, and I still have a high-grade -used- parts inventory.

I hoard parts and I'm not ashamed of it. I plan to use the parts but if I don't I'll sell them later on. I just picked up a WAP block actually looking forward to my next build....

If I'm ever fortunate enough to get a Marauder, I'm going to try to stock pile some parts. Nothing crazy (I say that now) but just some Marauder specific pieces.
