On Father's Day weekend, June 14 & 15, the Aviation Hall of Fame is hosting their annual car & air show. The money is used to support and run the museum. Go to their website for photos of past shows.

And yes, if you are brave and have the fees, you can go for a ride in a B-17. We flew over Manhattan last year and then flew along the runway at Newark Airport. What a thrill. Our cars move faster along the ground than the bomber.......... but of course, we don't take off!

A reminder:

Saturday and Sunday (June 14 & 15) is the Wings & Wheels Show at Teterboro Airport. The airport is on Route 46 in Teterboro, NJ.
Car show registration is $ 25.00 (supports the air museum). It includes everyone in the car. It is cheaper to register the car than pay for walk-ins. Aircraft from WW-II on display and actively carrying passengers. The B-17 rides on the "Yankee Lady" are $ 450 for the 1/2 hour flight over Manhattan.

The car show is open to all makes and years, not just classics. As for classes, I can't say this year. The Corvette Club of Bergen County is running it this year. Usually, the organizers walk the show field and pick their favorites in a semi-class order (old-new-modified-street rod, etc.).

The B-17 has a hatch they remove in flight on the top of the fuselage. You can stick you head out of the plane while it is in the air and shoot pictures from outside of the plane...that's insane, yet very cool!

Awesome pics, Jim !!! :2thumbs:

The pic from the waist gunner position and the one through the pop-top of the tail are absolutely terrific. Nice pics of lower Manhattan.

Manassas Regional Airport has put on a "Wings, Wheels and Warriors" charity event in the past. The video from May 2012 below shows some crazy flying by one of the stunt planes. Definitely worth a watch. Fifty historic aircraft on the field including a B-25 Mitchell (30 minutes ride along for $425) and a P-51 Mustang. Lots of action on the ground too ... all free of charge. Any and all donations go to the Wounded Warrior Project. The airshow there is in May each year.
