I just had the front seats rebuilt, lowers only. The upholsterer advised me the air bag light was one even though he disconnected the battery first (waited 10 minutes) and reconnected all electrical after re-installing the seats. He did not do anything to the seat backs containing the side air bag.
He said sometimes newer cars can tell the seat had been disconnected hence the light, and it needed the code cleared. The only code I found using my Xcal3 was P1000 as the battery had been disconnected. Clearing the codes using the tuner did not extinguish the air bag lights.
Is the Ford IDS tool needed to examine and/or clear air bag codes? Any body go through this before?
