I posted this question at the end of another thread, then decided to start a new one here to ask for help. I got my new Autometer gauges and while I was installing them, I came across a problem. The size of the end of the sending unit is too small for the hole it goes into in the block and the size of the adapter they sent me is too big. Therefor, I can't get the sending unit installed. I am assuming they sent me the wrong adapter. Is there a specific size that I am supposed to ask for when I get ahold of them on Monday? Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any other ideas besides waiting until the middle of next week for a new adapter to arrive?

Everything that I needed was in the box (sealed) that I bought. I didn't measure sizes (sorry). Get in touch with Autometer and I am sure they will hook you up.

^^^what martyo said^^^

From the installation instructions: "Sender features 1⁄8" NPT male fitting and comes with 1⁄4" NPT adapter."

It's just a simple brass adapter, maybe you can find one at a local plumbing/heating supply, or a truck repair shop...?

Or try a Hydraulic Repair shop - they will have any odd sizes!

i had to go to the auto parts store and dig through a bin to get an adapter to fit the lower oil pressure/temp bung. you'll find what you need that way..

I went to the harware store and dug around until I found a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. It was no where near the same size as what they sent me. It worked fine and everything is installed and working. I wonder what the adapter they sent me was for?

My whole problem was that I assumed that the adapter they sent was the 1/8" to 1/4" size and that I needed some other size. Guess thats what I get for assuming.

Thanks..
