What is inside the tensioner? Can oil and metal shavings come out of it?
I have something starting to squeak when cold, stops once warm, but the tensioner has oil and shavings around the body of it. Also feels real rough if you feel of it when running, but the pulley feels fine and is only a month old. Swapped everything from 6 to 8 rib last month so everything's new, but the tensioner. Can't figure were the shavings are from if not from the tensioner.

Sounds like the bearing is also destructing.

Feels fine, but ya can't really load it when turning by hand. Another thing, churps when cold unless the a/c compressor kicks in. Then it will stop then start churping again when it kicks out. Still not sure if tensioner is the one making the noise. 3 pulleys in the same basic area.

Reread O.P. I would replace tensioner as cheap insurance since the other pulleys were changed a recently. A Ford one is around $80 from what I rememebr when replacing mine in 2011.

Replace it, normal maintenance item. What more are you looking for besides chirping and metal shavings?
