I put Gabriel Guardians in my 2000 MGM. Big improvement over the original 120,000-mile shocks... ;)
I've always liked Gabriel since installing a set of Striders on my 1968 Buick about 30 years ago. :geezer:

is there any special tools or tricks ..i have a ton to tools tho.. ill be doing this with out a liftThe rear shocks will be a beotch. They are installed before the body goes on the frame and there is NO room to mess with the top nut. An air chisel will come in handy...

from another forum i was told....
The 98+ ones are super easy. The rear suspension was redesigned to accommodate the watts link and the top bolt on the shock it's really easy to get to

If you don't believe me, just go take a look at yours... :D

I replaced my rears about two weeks ago, and I had a little tool that went on top of the shock to keep it from spinning and a geared wrench I want to say 17mm and it wasn't bad at all

I loved the Bilstein HDs on my 2000 Vic. if I got another 92-02 I would get some Bilsteins again. but they are pricy.

Most folks aren't looking to spend $500 per on shocks. The results are great . . . at a price. That said, OP is asking this question in the wrong forum as his car is 2002.
I would use Bilstein HD and replace the sagging springs.
