Sorry if this is common knowledge, but are 96-98 Cobra timing covers the exact same as the Lincoln Mark VIII timing covers?

Actually, after a bit more reading it seems the 99 Cobra Timing Covers are the same as the 96-98 Cobra Timing Covers.

I have a procharger braket from a 98 Cobra. Looking to buy the Timing Cover and tensioner. If these are also the same as the Mark VIII then I have more choices. Just trying to double check with someone who may be able to confirm.

Thanks.

Thanks, that's where I plan to buy, but I didn't want to end up with the wrong item. Some sellers don't necessarily know how to properly list their items. Hopefully with the P/N I'll know what I am getting.

The Cobra timing cover also will allow for use of the cobra tensioner... This is a better tensioner... I currently use it on a 6rib votec setup... with little to no slip....

Just waiting for date available with John Lund for an updated dyno tune... so if it gonna slip at all I'll know they... (pushing mine hard)

Hmmm... Did I see some recent posts about someone having difficulty with a Thump tensioner? I have a cobra 3-bolt tensioner being shipped tomorrow.

Possibly someone who has no skills! its the best tensioner you can buy, a bit pricey, but it does the job, and has a lifetime warranty.

I hope not. Well, I suppose I could $$$. I'll test fit things soon, but I believe I have a 98 Procharger bracket and a corresponding timing cover. A 3-bolt tensioner is in the mail.

What I'll be needing to buy soon is some studs and bolts to mount the bracket. Was thinking maybe I'll buy some threaded rod and cut my own studs. Have any of you guys done this?

I see. I did come across a post on another forum where someone broke two aluminum cobra tensioners. Apparently ford also made a 3-bolt steel tensioner that is harder to find. I'll check out the Thump some more though.

How is the access to the tensioner with the blower mounted over top of it?

With the Marauder tensioner, I can use DR's tensioner tool to turn it relatively easily. Because of the Vortech I have no access to the factory hole for turning it.

Look just below the S/C bracket, and you can see the tensioner peeking out, its very easy to change the belt, and its now a one man job!

Got my 3-bolt tensioner yesterday and decided to test fit things a bit. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/21/usuma4y9.jpg

Found this diagram online, which helped me a bit.

Here's the cobra part number

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/21/ypaqy3em.jpg

FYI it broke too, so don't think it's all that and a bag of chips
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/21/eheby9ym.jpg

Also if you get the 96-98 cobra tensioner as a replacement expect a few modifications to make it work. With a procharger (I found out the hard way, I'm a rookie)

Otherwise get the vortech one (it should be labeled procharger too imho) as it won't need to be modified to use

I didn't realize the cobra tensioner needed modifications. It seems to fit fine. Guess I'll have to research this some more.

The Thump tensioner looks great! Especially if the cobra tensioners keep breaking.

I am also starting to think I should go to an 8-rib setup.
Thanks for the info.
