I have the Eaton swap and changed the fuel pump with the focus pump. Last week l filled up the gas tank to full and noticed that the fuel pump assembly was leaking. I placed a tray underneath it and looked at it in the morning and had about half a litre of gasoline.

I changed seal on the assembly and today I filled up to full again and now its still leaking. This time its not as bad but I still don't want any leaks.

Any ideas what it could be. It only leaks if its full. If the tank is 3/4s full it doesn't leak. Should I worry about this or just never fill past 3/4?

:flamer:Fill it up and drive it and then find out where its leaking from for sure and then fix it. You never know when it will leak at a lower fuel reading and someone will pitch a Butt ! :flamer::help:

It scares me that one would even ask this...

Change the seal again, this time go slower.

I disagree, while someone smoking a cigarette in a normal manner it would probably just sizzle, but add into the equation wind being blown over the cherry at lets say a 15mph speed. The extra oxygen introduced would super heat the cherry to a possible point of ignition, kind of like blowing on some burning embers to get a fire started. :P

I've flicked plenty into fresh gas on the floor over the years to screw with people never ever once successful! Believe me I tried! Still, the look on their faces is plenty enough.

I had this issue. It turned out to be a zip tie hanging into the opening that I couldnt see because I was laying under the car. I didn't remove the tank. If you have replaced the seal, I'd say make sure you torqued all the bolts down evenly and in a crisscross pattern.

I probably have to torque all the bolts again, need a new fuel assembly, or another seal.

I bet the seal is installed incorrectly. Get a new one and carefully replace it.

Liquid gasoline doesn't burn.... the vapor burns.
