So you can't just switch out motors?

Hmm. I saw a video on doing on a Town Car. I was going to do it to mine and then sold it. Didn't look hard. Check youtube.

Like replacing the entire assembly... right?

Yes and the hole assembly is not that much more money. maybe if you peel the outer door skin off you could do it easy.

How much labor hours do you estimate.

The regulator and motor assembly should only take about an hour to change. other than regular tools a 1/4 pop rivet gun is helpful to rivet regulator back to door ( like factory) instead of trying to bolt in. I did bolt window glass to regulator instead of riveting. there are lots of places selling the part so shop around for price.

If you've done one before about 30 minutes... if not at least an hour.

Got my regulators from a place on eBay. Got all four at once.

I never use the pop rivets to reinstall. Too much chance of shattering the window (been there, done that).

Use 1/4 x 20 bolts, washers and nyloc nuts in place of the rivets.

Don't waste your time trying to drill out the rivets.

From the front of the rivet, punch out the center shaft.
On the back of the rivet remove the 3 "ears" with some dykes by twisting them back and forth
Pry out the rest of the rivet.

There are good videos on youtube. Search for "crown vic window regulator".

+1 on the youtube video as above. I watched it before doing mine last week. After seeing how the regulator is made, I would go ahead and replace the regulator while I was in there although it does make the job easier and quicker to do just the motor. I got a good price at OReilly's on my regulator alone, and I think you can get them together as a package pretty cheap.
