I was at my L/M dealer with RichyFL and we were looking at some police cars, I noticed all had 13 inch cross drilled brakes. Do ALL P.I.'s have this , the service manager there thought all of them do. If so, I patent the idea of a P.I.- Marauder Brake swap. haha, i win. Also are these dual piston fronts? any info will help, thanks.

Last I knew the only difference in brakes between the MM and PI was different pads. Mabye a change for 2004? Or a special order? I would be interested in knowing myself.

I'd say they were certainly aftermarket. Ford doesn't even put drilled rotors on the Mustangs.

Unless it's new for '04 or '05 models, PI's don't come with drilled rotors

I feel 99.99% sure it was a department upgrade. Have never seen them on any year Police Intereceptor.

Did those cars you saw have all black wheels and a roll cage? The cage is hard to see because its tucked up real tight against the roof and doors. If so, those are "track" cars used for pursuit training. They are fully equipped marked units with radios and lights, just no computer. They have aftermarket brakes and wheel studs, 5 point harnesses and a few other options. They are only used out on the high speed track. They get driven hard, really hard. If you are smooth enough, you can try and hit the speed limiter at the end of the back straight and go 105 MPH in a sweeping right hander in a sweet four wheel drift (driver's training day is a FUN day). Not to mention ocasionally looping off the track into the dirt and sagebrush at about 80-90. The course is designed to get each officer to understand where their individual limits are and not exceed those on the street. Only had one rollover though (it wasn't me). They usually need to be serviced every week or two. Set of tires each week too. When we used the Impalas they used to get a frame crack just behind the front wheels and make this awfull banging noise when drifitng into the corners.

After about a year, they just cut the roll cages out of them and sell them at auction. I hope the buyer dosen't think he's getting a late model 25K mile creampuff CVPI though, those cars a tired.
