Everyone knows the spare tire comes out further than it should and the j-hook doesn't line up like it should. Has anyone found a way to make the tire sit all the way back. Maybe drilling two small holes and connecting it to a loop and hook. My spare tires always falls off the top of the trunk to the bottom when I floor it. Right now I have it wrapped in tie downs so it stays put but doesn't look like clean set up at all.

I bent the metal tab at a angle that the j hook attaches to and have no problems.

I cut all the threads off except the few that actually need to be there. Very easy now.

I never had spare tire sliding problems with either one of my two Marauders. I had full size spares though. Maybe I don't understand what the issues is, but all I have to do is ensure I tighten the plastic conical piece properly.

I've never had a problem with the space saver spare or full size spare.

Phoebe has the space-saver and The Blackbird has a full-size...no issues with either.

I just shortened the mounting bar because it was a pain in rear to get it started on the threads and I thought several inches of threads was utterly ridiculous.
I have never once had a sliding issue before or after, just a means of a quick install.

I have this huge tube with a hook attached and it doesn't stay erect it leans to the side. Because it leans it isn't on tight. Maybe I do have it upside down. But now I can't even find the thing to hold it down. Anyone have a part number l might have to buy a new one. It takes me about 15 mins to take out my full size tire. Maybe the car came with a different hook. Does the tire face up or is it backwards. Am I the only one with this problem. I thought everyone had this problem. I think the tire should stick further in.

How is it going to stick further in when it already touches the seat back?

I have found reaching under the tire and spinning the tube makes it a little easier and a lot quicker to install or remove the full size spare.

I'd be bragging all over town if I had this problem.
