Does my Engine sound right?

I made a small recording of my engine on idle here. Ive never had a chance to compare it apples to apples with another dohc so i was wondering if anyone could tell me if its sounding alright for 170000km it was 24c outside so quite hot if that affects anything.

Hard to tell. You may want to have a lab analyze some engine oil samples. Blackstone Labs seems to be the one guys here recommend.

Run it with the belt off, that'll clear all the accessories and the idlers & pulleys. If it's still making the sound, possibly timing chain guides.

Hard to tell from a video. But the injectors can make quite a bit of noise and that's all I think I hear in it.

On a side note.... damn that crossover tube looks to be in amazing condition considering the mileage and where you are.

I had two idlers, tensioner and the alternator clutched pulley all making ominous noises. Replaced them all over a period of months, and the noise got better with each part changed.

Can't guarantee that is your problem, but these parts most certainly do wear out and are replaced as normal maintenance.

gonna take the belt off and give that a go to pinpoint any abnormalities.
the chain guides definitely need replacing since i get rattle on start.

That water pump bearing that spins the pulley looks suspect.
