I just swapped the 4r75w trans into my 2003 mercury marauder. It runs fine if I keep the traction control off. Looks like the traction control settings are off. I heard there is a simple tune that can fix it. I don't know what that tune is and how to install that tune. Do I have to take it to dyno shop? or do I need buy a tuner? Please help me out.. Thanks in advance.

There is no tune that corrects TC problems. Maybe some of the tranny experts can help.

It was a direct swap but I did not really notice any improvement yet. I think it's just a beefier trans and can hold more power. I can't tell much until I get a better tune.

I'm not aware of any interaction between the transmission and the traction control.

What symptoms are you getting with TC on?

You need to change the OSS value from 6 to 24 in the tune.
Didn't you notice your speedometer was way off?

Thanks for your input Zack, I heard a lot about you from members here. I haven't driven it much since I swapped out the transmission. So I don't know if the speedometer is off. To change the OSS value from 6 to 24, do I need to buy a hand held tuner? If so, what would you suggest?

Zack is correct....The Ring gear the OSS sensor reads is different between the 4R70 and 4R75.

4R70 has 6 holes;

4R75 has 24 slots;

Also the OSS sensor is different on the 4R75, it should be white in color and its .100" shorter.

The planatary gearset is welded and hardened better than the 2003's. That's why they can take more HP. It is the 4.6 truck gearset. Same ratios as the early ones. All 2007 up CV/MGM/Etc. trans came with the hardened gearset.

Damn. My TR6060 was a 12 IIRC and it read double! I can only imagine 24.

Does anybody know how to change the OSS value?

Need a programmer and tuning software like SCT Pro Racer. Or if you have bought a programmer with a tune from a vendor, they can make the adjustment and send you a new tune to load.
