This gem I bought is almost done, but the oil pan is pushed in all the way to the pickup tube.
I can't sell it like this and sleep at night.
Looking for ideas to fix it, keeping in mind the pan is only a little over a foot off the ground.
Ok let's hear them

Consider this technique

Slide Hammers and Stud Guns

A small slide hammer, also called a dent puller, is used to pull dented metal back into shape. Holes are drilled in the dent, and a screw is fitted to the head of the slide hammer and screwed into the holes. The slide is pulled back to pull the metal back into shape. After the metal is back in roughly the original shape, the holes are welded and ground down smooth.
A lot of work can be eliminated by using a stud gun. The stud gun welds a small metal stud to the dented metal, then the slide hammer is attached to the stud to pull the metal back into shape. Then the studs are cut off and ground down. This saves hours of welding and grinding.

Weld a nut to the bottom, screw in a long bolt and pull out the dent.

Couldn't you use those pullers that you tack weld on and then grind them off and paint the bottom of the pan? I don't know what they are called but I see our body shop use them all the time. If I remember correctly you have a body shop background so maybe you know. You could drive it up on ramps for more access with the puller. It won't be perfect but it will at least get a little sump back.

Slide hammer is prolly best. Could weld some nuts onto it and use threaded rod with a heavier piece slid on to it and a nut and washer on end . Keep moving threaded rod to another spot to keep it as close to even as possible and then grind off nuts and spray paint flat black

Fill it in with bondo, paint it, and price it to sell....i dont see any dent:D

I'll go to harbor freight tomorrow and see just how small of a slide hammer they sell.
Or I could weld a nut to the pan, drill and bolt a hook to the floor, then pull the dent with a turnbuckle.

You have a hoist you don't need a small one.

Change the pan :D

I fished a wire in the drain plug and there is literally no clearance.

Wedge a screw driver between the two and "tweak" it up then! :)

Can I get a WINNING here? :D

1. tack weld nut to pan in center of dented area
2. place steel flat stock accross pan, spaced away with wooden blocks on ends
3. hole through center of said flat stock
4. pass a bolt through flat stock, thread into nut on pan = pull dent out
5. remove/grind/paint

I fixed it while you guys were brainstorming.
Thanks for motivating me

Hart to see, but this is finished after grinding the welds off. I pulled the pan down about 3/8"
I can rest easy now

Called a Uni-Spotter, I have one, I would say ship it, but the kit is probably 30 pounds at least, if we can figure a way, you can use it.

Good, Zack - but bet you can get it nearly square with my idea. I've pulled out dents as such before.

I was thinking that metal would have been tougher.
Did the air bags and shocks survive the jump?

When the car was in the auction or impound, whatever lifted the car got the pan, causing the damage.
Now I have to replace the oil adapter gasket that's leaking.
I almost don't want to sell this thing now after working on it so long

And FYI, pan replacement is only accomplished with the engine removed.

Do what my friend did to his 4.1L Cadillac. The oil pump had to be replaced, the only way to do this was to remove the engine. He wasn't having it so he cut the bottom of the oil pan out, replaced the pump, then re-welded the pan back together.
You could have done that with a cheap used pan and a welder.

We did the exact same thing on a Mach 1 we were working on. I had the owner jack it up but he knew nothing about cars. Jacked it up by the oil pan and dented it bad. We did almost the exact thing you did with a block of wood and welded on a bar. Worked great.

That pan is hammered though. Damn. Can these be swapped out with the engine in place?

Unfortunately not.
You can drop the aluminum crossmember though!
