Wiper blade arm placement

I don't know if I'm the only one with this issue but I really don't like how the wiper blade arms are placed on the windshield because they are so noticeable and stick out really high. I removed them today painted them and tried to adjust them so they would be placed a bit lower but doing compromises the function of the arm because it won't wipe the whole length of the windshield.

Has anyone tried using a different set of arms maybe from a Vic or grand Marquis. I'm am tempted to if no one else has because I can't stand seeing those ugly things.

I did the complete wiper delete and it was probably one of my favorite mods... I got caught in the rain on one occasion but due to the copious amount of RainX I had applied to the windshield I was good to go! :D

OP - you are not the only one bothered by this. There are a few threads on how to make them sit lower / more level (especially the passenger's side) if you dig around.

I was thinking about deleting them. I deleted the washer fluid tank but then added it back because I was caught in a storm and the windshield was so dirty I had to pull over couldn't see a thing.

I brought them lower but its still not good enough

So ugly these blades sit so high looks like a bus. I'm surprised no one has made custom blades for us. Even if we lower them they doesn't make them much better and the windshield doesn't get completely wiped either. There has to be a better solution.

The wiper arms are have little index blocks that go between the arm and pivot to supposedly put the arms where the factory intended them to sit. 99-100% of the time, the first time you take the arm off the blocks will fall into the wiper housing.

For some strange reason the wiper arms didn't sit level on all cars made. The service manual solution is to remove the indexing blocks, toss them out, and re-position the wiper in the desired position. There is a measurement chart in the service manual, but it is pretty much low and level with each other across the windshield.

I have no issue whatsoever with the wipers on The Blackbird. They work perfectly, unlike the depressed-park blades on The Slowmobile that are either too low and won't park correctly, or, if repositioned, go off the edge of the windscreen. There is no happy medium.

Plus they look stupid when using them in intermittent mode; they sit way too high.

Why Ford didn't mak them retrack just a tad like the Marks...or my Mark V's they completely disappear, which would be perfect...oh let me guess...it saved money???

Then again, I don't daily drive my car.
