Has anyone removed the 2nd cats and kept everything else stock including the stock mufflers? How does it sound? Does anyone have a video?

I have this set-up and it sounds better than stock. Getting Flow 40s and resonators knocked out this weekend for a deeper tone.

I just had Magnaflows put on, and it's still not loud enough for me. I found a guy to take the cats off, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Check out Youtube! There's a bunch of people that have posted how theirs sound. You can get an idea of different mufflers sound without them, with them, with resonator deletes, and so on. Just type in Mercury Marauder, and you'll be in a whole new world!

Yes, because the ones you wanna take off, are after the O2 sensors.

Homero, go to Vasquez and sons muffler. They have shops all over, but the one in Aurora on Lake st. were super cool to deal with. I believe I paid $40.00 total.

I had what you descibed and sounded great. Now have SW headers/cats and stock pipes/mufflers/tips - sounds even better.

anybody know of a shop in the Dayton or Cincinnati Ohio area that will remove the 2nd cats? I'm having a little trouble locating a shop that's willing to do it.

im having the same issue in Akron. Cut the rear cats out with a Sawzall, install some flex pipe. Take it to an exhaust shop and claim your cats were stolen and see if they're more willing to do it. Most shops just don't want to tamper with the emissions system, but once it's tampered with they will be less reluctant to install straight pipe.

Side note, I just did the rear cat delete before going on Power Tour and several people remarked at how good it sounded.

I'm a fan.

Sweet, thanks! I know alot of places have issues removing these. I've been grilled if I was a cop at this other Mexican place on the east side. I will give these guys a shot.

I want to remove my rear cats too but the cheapest a muffler shop would do it for was a $150 cash ,I thought that was a lot of money for a foot of pipe for each side ? I do like that thought of cutting them off myself and saying they got stolen lol and then going to a muffler and have them weld up some pipe.maybe that would work.

I cut them off myself, used exhaust pipe and exhaust clamps to connect them up....3 of the 4 cuts were straight, the 1 was crooked and had to be welded by a shop. Better idea is to say you got the exhaust off of another marauder in a junk yard or bought from someone....and once installed they came up short.:D

^this. And don't "ask", just politely "tell" them what you want. Just like anything else in life, don't ever give people options, they will normally pick the one you don't want to hear...

What he said. Dealerships are famous for this. Any type of auto shop is in tow right behind them.

They may tell you they won't do it unless you have the cats put back on...I tried having this done by the shop I and my Dad had been doing business with for decades and they flat said no...luckily mine fell off when I was having other work done...:D:D:D

Hey guys - I did this today. I paid a shop 100.00 to cut them out and weld me on a new piece.

It sounds unbelievable.

So one one these shops, but at Markham, wanted $140 cash to do the cats and bung weld. This was after 15 minutes of the guy looking at it and explaining to me the sensors directly in front of the second set were for those converters and would fail emissions... I told him I would take my chances, and then told them to piss off after he gave me the price.

I guess you have to have a dirtyass raggedy car to not get rape prices at these poor folk exhaust shops.

Shop by me said $70 per side. It sounds way to high for me, but the shop is conveniently by my work. I can drop it off in the morning, walk a block to work, and it'll be done by the time I get off. I'm gonna finally do it on Tues.. I happened to find some money laying on the ground, and since I don't know who's it is, the price doesn't really bother me.:D

Some of you really need to learn how to weld! I only took mine in because I would charge myself more than the $30 they charged me..
