Ok, so when I got the new Nitto's put on the rear, the shop when over the car with a fine tooth comb. They found a couple issues that will need addressing soon. So, when it comes to replacing things like brake parts, suspension and shocks etc, would you normally replace them with GM or CV stuff (unless you wanted to upgrade)? The shop guy was looking up GM parts and said they should be the same.... :dunno:

sizes/hardware is the same for CV, Gm, Marauder for brakes..so get what you want for performance wise..plenty to choose from, shocks are not the same in terms of dampening..marauder shocks no longer avail. so many here like monroe severe service, kyb, etc..I never changed the shocks onmine so don't have an opinion for them..
Brakes are motorcraft, napa, R1 concepts, stoptech, ebc etc...

So, then, it doesn't sound like there are many Marauder specific parts available. I will just inquire on this site to find out what the best alternative part would be. ;)

The MM specific stuff is becoming a rarity. Never hurts to ask, of course be prepared for differing opinions on which brand is best based on that persons perspective.
Most parts that are no longer OEM have already been tested by someone here so you should be able to get something with relative confidence. :)

Suspension and brakes are basically the same as police package vics.

Brake parts may be the same as CVPI, but not the suspension parts. In the very first MMville in Dallas, this was discussed at lenght. It seems most people thought the MM was a MArquis with police stuff on it. the MM parts were specific to the MM and carried different part numbers. The springs, shocks, air bags, steering rack were all MM specific. As stated above, over the years as Ford discontinued MM parts they crossed the part numbers over to existing PI numbers. This further added to the idea it was a Marquis with PI stuff in the begining.
Using the PI stuff won't hurt, but most people are using a combination of PI and aftermarket to suit their tastes.
As for brakes, for 10 years now on the MM I have been using Bendix Titanium brake pads (they get stickier as they get hotter) and drilled (or now slotted) Bendix (or similiar) rotors to bring down the surface temp. They stop with no fade here in the desert in the summer slowing from triple digit speeds with no warpage or chatter. Pads run about $75 a set, rotors about $120 each. Rear brakes only provide about 30% of stopping power, so I just use a good mid-grade mettallic (or Ford) pad)

The upper and lower front control arm castings are the same, the bushing density was harder, hencer the differrent part numbers.
And possibly the rear air bags. Supposed to be off a Town Car Limo, but it may have been another part number cross over.

Yes, the rear air springs are Town Car parts. Many other Marauder-specific suspension parts have been crossed over to Crown Vic parts. Unfortunately the results are nowhere near the ride and performance of the original setup, so Marauder owners are left to their own devices to try to recapture (or improve) on the original Marauder performance.
