http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/http://i61.tinypic.com/fxr0pt.jpgHey guys It's that season again to be in the garage detailing the hell out of our Marauders to make them look nothing short of amazing for all those summer shows. I just wanted to share a product that is amazing for all the black Marauders out there. The Turtle Wax Black products. More specificly the Black Box. This stuff is totally amazing:2thumbs:. I love it. I used it on my Marauder not expecting too much of a difference from other spray waxes, but WOW! It really makes the car shine. It fills all those little swirls in the finish and just leaves car looking and feeling smooth and the shine is amazing:sunshine:. I know I may sound like I'm a spokesperson for Turtle Wax but I assure I'm not. I'm just trying to let everyone know I found a great product that really works on our black rides. I could load 100 pix of my car but it just won't serve the justice that you would see yourself if you used it. If you have used it I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. :coolman: Check it out guys. Happy Summer everyone.

Been there... done that.
Have been using the product for at least 4 years.
Good stuff

It's a good product especially for those of us with 'tired' paint jobs. I find it to be a bit of a chore though I usually start the year with a TWBB and then switch to Meguiar's Black Wax, which is a single-stage that works well.

I like the Turtle Wax Black Box also the only thing undesirable about it is being the two stage process. Definitely checking out the Meguiar's Black Box.

Not a fan of the turtle wax black box anymore. Just takes too damn long with 2 steps and did I mention its a b***h to get off. Also its gets real messy. I will always stick with Meguiars yellow wash and wax soap and Meguiars ultimate wax for the best shine and it's easy to come off with a fresh microfiber towel.

The good thing about the black box is that it covers small imperfections. When I had my black cars, I would wash them atleast twice a week and after every wash I would spray and wipe black box detailer spray. Detailer spray is great to help. Serves like a black die.

Wax melts off the Black Marauder during the Summer in these South LA parts.

Black box is great until the first rain or wash, then it's a waste of time. I've done the process twice and it don't last long at all. Stick with a meguires carnauba wax or the nxt tech wax. I have had better results in half the time.

A good sealant will work for six months. Any wax on a black car in the summer heat is short lived. The melting point just breaks it down to nothing.
After a good wash, clay bar and full polish polish, Blackfire or Zaino make good durable paint sealants to protect the surface. Wax is a weekend thing and if you don't mind doing it all the time, that will work too depending on how much you drive the car. Garage queens never get dirty.

Im a fan of the Black Box! Its a good product and looks even better when you apply it with a orbital! Only thing is that its a big messy and if you have a daily driver it doesn't last long....mine is in a garage and not on the road as a daily driver (couldn't afford the 94 to fill it LOL) I do agree with Blackened300a the nxt tech wax or 3M Perfect-it paste gives the best over all results consistently with staying power

I agree. A lot of work. It does look good but didn't last long at all.

I fourth or tenth that it doesn't last long at all. Looks great maybe until the car gets wet a second time and then starts to degrade. Need to try something else now.

I agree it's just too tedious to do the job with the Black Box.

Buy a Zaino Kit, clay bar it and start layering, after about coat #6 you will get that holy ***** moment, even if you don't go through the polishing (paint correction) it will be greatly improved. The more layers you put on the better it will get.
My 1st experience with it I had bought a black Mark VIII that looked as it it had been wet sanded.
After 5 days of 3 coats a day my friends thought I had it painted.
Nice thing about Zaino, its not a wax so sun doesn't melt it, and it is good for at LEAST 6 months in south Florida sun.
YMMV

+1 on the zaino. been useing it for years cant beat the wet look if thats your thing.it is a bit tricky to apply. best with a p/c

I have always put Zaino on by hand, I think it's the easiest hand applied I have ever used. The key is use less than you think is enough. If you can see it looking straight on you are using way too much.
2oz is more than enough to do 3 coats on the MM with probably 3/4 oz left over.

Chi Stallion- Good on you for using that foamgun, I never wash without one.

The only Zymols that are really worth using (and that's debatable...) are their high-end "Estate Glazes", which cost a fortune and always raise the question "is any wax worth that much money?!?" Those are kinda a PIA to work with too.
Their less-expensive stuff isn't really all that hot IMO, I'd rather just use Collinite (which "experts" have mistaken for high-end waxes at carshows).

Well I'd like to use something off the shelf, but good. Go to the parts store, pick it up and put it to use.

jbeezy- Some autoparts store have Collinite 845 Insulator Wax (which doesn't stain black plastic trim, very user-friendly).
As for Meguiar's (I use their old M16 paste wax on one car), I hear their new Ultimate Wax is good stuff.
