For the last couple months when my P.I. 3500 converter locked up it would shudder like crazy. Happened every time and made the car undriveable at highway speeds.
Took the converter out and dropped it off to Hughs Performance to have a new clutch disc put in. They called me and told me not only was the clutch smoked but the hub was scored and the the bearing was wiped out. They installed a billet disc instead of the steel one that was in it.
What a difference it made, I always thought the converter was sloppy and inefficient and I was right. Hard to put into words but the car drives and shifts very differently and just tighter. At 1/2 throttle the 1-2 shift shocks the tire.
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN SPRINGS!
This is what the billet disc looks like in the last picture.
