Just replaced my evap core and dryer today. Now there's a faint smell of refrigerant in the car. No noticeable leaks were found however I did not use a sniffer. Could this possibly be residual from having the system open and will eventually stop?

Even after a full system rebuild I never smelled any refrigerant.

Well I guess I don't smell refrigerant since refrigerant doesn't really have an odor. I suppose its the pag oil...hard to describe, its a faint chemical-like smell.

Did the tech spill some oil in the engine compartment?

I did it myself. I put 2oz in the evap core and 1oz in the dryer before installing and I used mineral oil on the new orings. Some oil spilled out when disconnecting the lines. But nothing significant.

Does it smell like antifreeze? It could be your heater core....

Had the air on after work today and didn't smell anything. Must have spilled the old pag oil in the engine bay somewhere.
