View Full Version : QA1 Shocks
How do you get the QA1 shocks to get rid of that bounce?
Replace them with Oem shocks
I have the OEM shocks, they were included with the purchase of the vehicle. Is there an advantage with the QA1 Shocks

Yes, the "bounce"!!!! :D
Aren't the QA1's adjustable?

Yes, they are adjustable. If I remember correctly, you turn the knob clockwise to firm them up and counter-clockwise to soften the ride.

Unless they are double adjustable's.

What they said!
I have always liked the QA-1's, especially the double adjustables!

If the "bounce is in the front, check the springs.
If the top 3 to 5 coils are touching each other/fully compressed while the car is sitting level on the ground, you're not going to get rid of the "bounce".

The way to get rid of "the bounce" is to match shock valving to spring rate and sway bar combination. The major problem for Marauder owners is that off-the-shelf shocks don't work well because they are made for Crown Vics and Grand Marquis. Not to mention they are cheap crap.
To end up with good results you need correctly valved adjustable shocks (preferably double-adjustable) and a bit of patience and understanding as to whether you are making it better or worse, and if you should be tweaking rebound or compression.
It can be done, been there. But it is most definitely not as cheap or easy as ordering up a set of Grand Marquis shocks from KYB, Monroe, or even Ford as they disco'd the Marauder-specific Tokico units long ago.
I have not personally used the QA1 (see my sig), so won't comment. Reviews here seem to be mixed.

Good point, it never hurts to remind people that worn-out parts need replacing.
"My Marauder has 150K miles on it, is all original and in great shape. But I'm not happy with XYZ. What can I do to make it better without spending any money or replacing parts?" ;)
