Hey! I just went on a little 500 mile round trip this weekend. It's been about a year since I did some road trips that were long enough to keep track of fuel mileage. So, as a refresher, I was just wondering, regardless of what gear ratio you are running, is there a "sweet spot" in the RPM band that typically yields the best gas mileage?

You typically get the best gas mileage at or under the speed limit.

May be just one of those seat of the pants theories, but I feel like it's right around 2000-2200. I have 3.27 gears in mine and that's where I feel like I get the most efficiency out of it. FWIW, that's right around 70-75 mph, as FBM alluded to. Like I said, probably just one of those things that's more imagined than anything. Doesn't mean I don't believe it though

You're dropping from 3.55 to 3.27? Do you have a power adder?

With my car seems like 68-70mph is like zen for max gas mpg with the 4.10's. I think its around 2200-2300.

Yes, I have the 3.27 gears, but no power adder. I bought it this way from the previous owner and it wasn't even tuned for them :shake: It's since been tuned for the gear ratio, and I also have 4.10 tunes waitin for when I put in the 4.10 gears. Hopefully very soon...

I do enjoy the extra mpg's for now though :D

I got 25mpg highway on a trip from Cleveland to North Carolina. 75-80 the whole way with the A/C for much of the trip.

I don't think it makes a difference.

I average about 12mpg. Most of my driving is short trips. Usually 200 miles per tank.

That is only because when you floor it your ride causes everything in sight to blur, like the Star Ship Enterprise does right after Captain Kirk asks Sulu for warp speed.

I've ridden in an 850 hp corvette, a blown Cobra, and taken a magical 6.9 Mercedes "flight" down the freeway, but I have never been in a big four door sedan and had the warp speed feeling light to light and on the freeway on ramp that I felt in your sled.

I am surprised you get 12 :)

Oh yes... 2200 -2300 rpm, car seems to plane out--right at about 77-80 mph.

My sweet spot was back before I had 4.10s and I was able to find 100% gasoline.

That's our little secret.
