You should add the keys, door locks, trunk lock and ignition to that. For one lump sum. IMO

Good to know! I'll revise the post later. Thanks.

If it has anything to do with the security system or keyless entry then yes... I'm not sure...

Not really. I read that someone wanting a PCM ready to plug and play may need the ignition, or something like that. Probably not worth including the PCM.

Yeah, other wise you have to have Ford reprogram the keys. I have to actually send my car to Ford to have the ignition replaced and 2 new keys programmed. Just to install my Viper Alarm I have. It's going to cost me right around $400.00.

When I installed my remote start I had to program an additional key (easy to do if you have 2 already programmed), then installed that key into the module and wire up the antenna around the ignition switch. Been working great for 8 years.

When I bought my car a few years ago. The guy I got it from only had one master key. So that's why I'm replacing the ignition.

No need to replace the ignition if you only have one key. You can cut a second key and have it programed. It shouldn't be much more than around $100. You don't have to go to a dealer either as there are aftermarket scan tools that will allow you to "open" the security system and program an additional key.

When I bought mine I only got the valet key and thankfully I had access to a scan tool to program it myself. I did end up having the code looked up and a standard key cut at the Ford dealer since I did not know that the only difference between a regular and valet key is that the valet key is just thicker than a normal key.

There are locksmiths that can code new keys also.

Lmao! Thanks everyone, I know all of this. But my car was a DARE car at one time. And the key tumbler is messed up. You can remove the key while the car is running. That and only having one master key. I'm just going to replace it. When it's all said and done I'm going to have an $8,000 Alpine System in the car. So I really don't want a spare key floating around somewhere. So to have Ford program 2 new master keys and replace the ignition lock with parts and labor it's only $400 my cost. (shop rate) that's not that bad. IMO

And for my Viper Alarm, I have to have both master keys to program it. A duplicate key will not work. I can add keys afterwards but I need both master keys to do the initial set up.
