i just became a 03 Marauder owner over this weekend.. i live in a very hill area , and i don,t want long tube headers, i want shorty header,s equel length , or if i had to use shorty header unequel length , i just need to know if there are some out there that will work with the 03-04 , 4V , heads of the marauder ,... and fitment with in the engine bay , are all hole sizes for oxegen sensors to thread in a standard size. ( diamerter and thread count - standard or metric>> ) i plan on making my own custom exhaust to meet up to the header,so i am not worried about flange fitmint to stock marauder exhaust system ... if there is some shorty header,s that will will work , can i have name of company and part number thanks !!!!!!!!!

FRPP cobra shorties work fine, so will the mid pipe.

Also ,you are not going to get same H/P gains with the shorties as the Long tubes .For my money I would get the factory 1-7/8 " pipes removed / get 2-1/2 '' pipes from the 2-1/2 '' Xpipe to the mufflers.as far as mufflers go, Dyno Reports show max HP gain with Flo Master Delta 50's [3 chamber] from independent test..Super 40's with open exhaust systems have shown in some cases actual H/P loss :banana2: Happy Modding .

I'm pretty certain "new" FRPP cobra shorty headers are not avail. anymore, discontiued, so you will have to look for a used set on like corral.net and ebay which shouldn't be hard to locate

Ford cobra shorties are part # m9430-e465 I believe. Ebay is best bet.

a few of us have them and have issues with them cracking, I would go with kooks, they are more of a mid length header.

I suggest you stay far away from the FRPP shorty headers. I have first hand experience with the design flaws, which cause stress cracks in time. Trust me it's not worth the trouble of the damn things cracking once a year. I had 3 'new' drivers side failures before giving up. Unless you don't drive your car much, don't do it.
Fastblackmerc: Your installation looks very nice. Well done.

I use KOOKS system on my MM & sound great with the Magnaflows.
I also use Percys Vibe-Lock Header bolts so the headers will never come loose.

Is this common ?

Is this common ?
I've read on here and svtp multiple threads about the shorty headers cracking and having to be repaired, they are not worth it unless the car is barely driven

You can call b.s. all you like , shortie headers are prone to cracking at the welds , and more importantly they are a waste of time , and money as they do not add any H.P.

just because yours haven't cracked doesn't mean all the others out there won't crack either, if more than 20 people have the same issue with 1 one product on different applications, then there is a problem with the product.
There is a reason they are discontinued :run:

On a supercharged car, how much HP with a set of SW headers is expected?
40-45?
I will be buying a set soon. Noise always held me back but since I'm getting older I can't hear as well as I use to... :-)

Here are my shorty headers before I drilled the ends of the cracks to stop them from spreading, V'ed out the cracks and welded them. They will be off the car for good soon.

Why does anybody think the "shorties" are better than stock Marauder exhaust manifolds??
Bryan Jones (Grand Muffler) told me years ago that the "shorties" were no better than stock MM's so I kept mine stock and as far as I know they are not cracked!!

It all depends on your combo , generally the more H.P. your making , the more a set of long tubes will help. as far as noise my S/C and BOV are louder than my SW exhaust:eek:
The post above is a perfect example of why I would not bother with shortie headers , not worth the trouble.

They are not impressive to look at. While eyeballing exhaust is no substitute for dyno testing, it is hard to see how shorties could provide much improvement.

When I did my shortie install with the midpipe and cat delete I had a 25 hp gain.
That being said, mine came off this week and Martyo ordered my SW long tubes yesterday.
Mine were on the car since 2010
15-18000 miles
Close to 80 1/4 mile passes
I see evidence of one possible crack forming
I wouldn't hesitate to buzz them up and reinstall but I am looking to reach the 500RWHP number when the car leaves Mo's, with the new heads and long tubes it should be within reach
