It depends.
Was the switch bad?
Don't know, but reading about other's experiences, parts are changed to no effect.
IE; brake switch, control servo, fuse. But I didn't see where the switch was changed and the problem fixed. That's my question.
PS: I just came across Tbone's post where changing the servo fixed his car's problem.

Messing with the adjustable pedals switch helps too because of the cutoff switch down at the pedal. Try adjustiing it and trying the cruise before you do anything.

Do you have a problem with the cruise control?

The cruise in my DD is intermittent. It's either the "ON" button or the "SET" button. I tried cleaning them with electrical contact cleaner and the problem is much improved, but I still need to replace the switches.
Bob, It's not a stand alone switch, but a circuit board. The switches are sealed and soldered to the board. Be careful taking off the "switch cover", there are little plastic spacers between the external switch cover that fit over the actual switch and they can come off and then you have to hunt for them. Think tiny, tiny, tiny.
For fastblackmerc - yes, my cruise control in totally inop. I'm thinking it's a recent thing. Haven't done any pedal work, so it may be something that just broke on it's own. I'll check shortly.

By "replace the switches", I meant the little modules on either side of the steering wheel...although if I had a part number, I'm sure I could get the actual switches from DigiKey or Mouser. Replacing them is easy if you can solder on a circuit board.

I found new oem switches on ebay. Expensive, but worth every penny. My steering wheel looks like new.
