Got a quote from this shop yesterday for the front and back bench style seats in this car. The front seat has two fold down backs.
The guy said it was going to cost me around 2500 dollars for material and labor. The vinyl is going to be around 60 to 65 a yard and it going to take around 8 yards to do both seats.
They are going to make them look the way they looked when they were made originally which is a kind of intricate, detailed looking job. Even still WWWWAAAAAYYYYYYY more than I was expecting.
I told him we're just doing the front seat and not both right now and he said the front would be a little more than half of the quote because there is more work in the front than back which is true.
Does this seem a bit pricey to anyone else or is it just me????:violin:

The shop is known around this area for being expensive but doing really good work though...
I just dug out the receipt for the one experience I've had. In 2002 I had my driver's bucket seat restored. They cleaned and painted the frame, made a new seat cover using new base material and trim from the old cover, new foam padding, all for $344. The shop is in Homer, MI.

Sorry, I can't seem to figure out exactly what car you are referring to and also advise if there is any damage due to flood or fire. Is there tufting, etc.?
Thank you,

Thank you,
Same here, but to go $650+ per front seat, I'd have to be restoring a car for the Smithsonian IMO.

Same here - on this site it could be a '83 Ford Tempo Marauder clone. When I had my '95 SHO I paid $500 to have both front power seats redone to OE look/spec/color and that was after I 100% disassembled both seats. That was almost a decade ago. The exaggerated bolsters and shapes made them wear quickly no matter how careful you were.

I would get a few quotes from other reputable places to see where that price is.

Thank you,
He's referring to the 1963 Marauder he's been working on for a little while now.
My bucket seat job was on a 1963 Marauder S-55.
I'm not sure that 12 years of inflation would make the big charge he's seeing in his quote. I'm thinking he can do better and still get a quality job, but I'm no expert.

Personally I do not think that price is insane especially when you consider labor and materials are included and most trim shops up charge per pleat.

When I had the center inserts done a couple of years ago, it was $1500 cash, that was just the center panels front and rear.
My suggestion, if the price is too high, learn how to do the work and do it yourself, the you can have the satisfaction of doing to job yourself.....

Nope it was either the Trilogy logo or nothing, as the embossed godshead had been removed by the previous owner.
FWIW, it was $75 per seat for the embroidery....

Yeah but if you've never done upholstery work before how do think you could do it yourself for the first time and do quality work and are you calling me stupid???

My Dad several years ago had his 87 Ann Cougar front and back seats redone. Custom with the Ann. logo in the seats and center console lid came to @$1500-1600...

Well, even the upholstery guy never did upholstery work till he did it. You can do anything if you put your mind to it, and want to buy the equipment required for the job. I have a lot of tools from jobs that I only did once or twice, I call it on the job training.
I don't recall anyone calling you stupid, I don't see that as a way to help you solve your problem.

Oh ok that's just what I read under your post, that quote thing or whatever it is. And thanks for help or at least trying to help, I really do appreciate it.
Not interested in buying any tools though, think I'm just gonna leave this one in the hands of the pros.
I do like that you support the troops also, I actually served in the United States Marine Corps from 2007 to 2011 and I think its great when people acknowledge and appreciate all those men and women have sacrificed for this country of ours.
And I'm not talking about myself in terms of sacrifice, I came home with my life and all my limbs so I have nothing to ***** about quite frankly.
Again, thanks for the help I can use all I can get, believe me

Its nice to be apart of the 1st Civ Div though, too much ******** was going on when I got out.
