Help and advice desired!
40 miles cruise back from event today. 80-85 MPH, car drove fantastically.
Exited freeway, 1 mile to last light by my house. I heard a "Pop"..... 40 seconds... "Pop".... 40 seconds or so.... "POP". Weird sound, not metallic... Not exhaust-like... Not the "tick, tick, tick" you hear from a Japanese car in summer after you turn it off.
I rolled down the window, asked my 17 year old son, "Is that coming from our car?"
"NO" he said, so I thought maybe the noise was coming from outside.
We continued the drive home and parked in driveway. Boys and I unload, and are walking to the front door, "POP". My Youngest says, "Dad that is coming from the car"
Opened hood, crawled underneath... It appears that it was 100 degrees today, and we drove 40 miles with the AC on, and the normal condensation that usually drains through a tube is dripping on the passenger side hot catalytic converter... "pop"
(And to pay homage to my biggest post faux pax, "Yes, I did taste it too, and it was water")
my query is, "do you think I lost my drain tube? Is there one from the bottom of the AC unit against the firewall?
Anyone have this happen before?
