View Full Version : Blower Fan Maintenance

I installed a new blower fan today hoping to get more airflow in my ventilation system. $25 plus shipping from Rock Auto was a deal I couldn't pass up. It even included the hamster wheel. I was in in Florida when the fan motor went out in my Town Car, so I figured it was time. I don't want to go through that again.....

It did not increase the CFM airflow, but I did find a lot of leaves and debris built up around the evaporator core that was reducing cooling. It also was blocking the tube that helps keep the blower motor cool. So my advice is to pull your blower and vacuum out the area for cooler temps and longer motor life. :)

Another maintenance item to add to the list.... Thanks!

Probably should do it when cleaning out the cowl area.

Yep. Did that but never occurred to me to clean out this area.....

BTW, the entire job took only about 20 minutes.

Did you replace the Cabin Air Filter?

I'm not aware that our cars have one.

They don't... Although the leaves did some filtering... :D

Didn't think it did, but the other cars I own do. The interior of the MM stays cleaner than the other cars that have one!

I wish it did. It would solve the underwhelming CFM of air coming out of the vents! My Town Car was ****ing horrible.

Does anyone know of a way to get more airflow out of these ventilation systems?

Wire in a Boost-a-pump to the fan motor

Tom, lower your blood pressure and I guarantee the climate control will seem better

If you need colder air run the blower at a lower speed. The longer the air stays on the evaporator the colder it gets.

I sell new cars with powerful cooling fans, so when I get in the Marauder I am reminded how weak they are in comparison. Ice cold, just weak fans.

BP is 130 over 80. No issues.

Many times I'll get into a car with someone on a very cold day, and they'll immediately turn the heat control and fan to full. Don't they realise it'll only blow freezing cold air until the coolant warms up?!
