Thinking about beafing up my cams but dont know what size to go and what is a reasonable price for having it done
You will spend about 2K after install, degreeing, and tuning.
Not worth it.

For me it was way more then 2K after install as there was many other things
that had to be replaced to accommodate the cams which added to the cost.
I can post a cost list if you like.

'96-'98 Cobra intake cams make decent power for relatively cheap.

Staying N/A is cost effective for my needs for cruising around town or the odd out of town trip & with the donkey roads & photo radars I can't really go fast for a long period of time & I rarely go to the track.
I wasn't planning to do a cam swap but the MM had a bad tensioner & a loose chain in summer of 2013.Since the motor will be a part it was an opportunity to do cams.
So I did some research because of doing this I thought it was better to go with Stage 3 Comp Blower Cams instead of having the motor apart twice if not satisfied if I got stage 1
With Blower Cams I can still upgrade to ZEX or anything more radical later on with no problem.
It was a lot of work, time, all summer long & about 6 grand to get it done or more with costly shipping to Canada. There was a lot of things that had to be changed to accommodate the cams.
I have a good mechanic who did the work on the side & know these motors inside & out,But I could not get it tuned until MV11 because no one in my city could do it & I ran out of time.Jeff at Mo's Speed Shop tuned it as soon as I got to Atlanta from Canada for a good deal & put parameters in the tuner for NOS.:bows:
The bad thing was the cams were not degreed as one of the 4 cams is in the negative & ran out of time to get ready for MV 11,Jeff at Mo's Speed Shop tuned it to compensate for it :bows: But it still needs to be done soon.
With doing the cams the Trans & stock converter could not keep up because the cams were over powering it & I had to over rev the motor too shift to the next gear.
(UPDATE ) Aug/20/2014
The trans is rebuilt with a B&M Shift Kit/TCI'S Street Fighter Converter 3,000 - 3,400 RPM & Koelene Drag Clutches,Kevlar Power,OD & Reverse Bands & Deep Trans Pan.
All which was close to 5 grand .
There was a lot in upgrading cams but more costly in the things that has to change with it,But now it is a mean machine. In year or so I might upgrade to the Ford Racing Aluminator 46X 5.0L Short block.

I went to http://www.modularmotorsportsracing.c om/
They are OK but they only use UPS & shipping across the boarder sucks

Just boost it and forget about cams. These little motors need a power adder not cams.
