I was browsing the 2003 IMOA venders directory, and on page "v" (yes, v)
is an ad for Dennis Carpenter, who sells reproductions parts for restoring old Fords and Mercs. Anywho, middle of the page at the bottom is "1955 Mercury trunk emblem, Brilliant red background with chrome Mercury head." It's an officially licensed product from FoMoCo. Price is $50 each. I looked at their website, but sheesh, talk about difficult to find anything. I haven't the foggiest idead what the dimensions are, but perhaps those of you who are converting waterfall badges may want to give the company a call. 1-800-476-9754 or email them at info@dennis-carpenter.com
BTW, the 1954-55 Mercury front fender emblem? Fug-ugly, imo, though it is colored gold, red, blue and silver. Maybe it looks better in person. They also show a 1950 Mercury trunk emblem insert with a better profile mercury head with chrome stars, and a 1951 insert that is the same idea but a different design.
