I thought I noticed this before but I chalked it up to I hadn't run it in several months. Running her again yesterday and my driver's front brake gets real hot, smokin hot. Any ideas what could be causing this? Bad caliper, pins, or time to move up to big brakes? Thanks everyone!

Caliper piston sticking, guide pins gunked up, collapsed flexible hose.
Take the caliper off and clean & re-grease the pins. Use this (http://www.agscompany.com/lubricants/automotive/168), available at most FLAPS. If that ain't it, then replacing the hose is the next least expensive, although the caliper is more likely the problem.

yeah, kind of what I was thinking all along. sounds like big brakes for me if I'm going to do all of that work... Thanks for the help! Forgot to mention, I have braided brake lines. So it is possible for failure there, but I wouldn't think it would though.

if you have the braided SS lines then most likely one of the other things mentioned above is your problem.....

Prolly caliper, I just had my 37000 mile truck caliper freeze up. Although it is 19 years old on original brakes rotors etc. never been thru winter

Forgot to mention, I have braided brake lines. So it is possible for failure there, but I wouldn't think it would though. The stainless braid is just a covering on the outside to help protect and support the rubber hose inside, so yes it's still possible for one to be bad, but that's not common.

I may be wrong but, I believe the TCE SS hoses have silicone hose inside.

Then it's even less likely to be bad...

Ran into that issue on my 1999 f150 as well. Replaced calipers and hoses on both sides while i was in there for the one side. Solved problem. Was not fun on the freeway when the brakes would start shaking the whole front end!

Wouldn't that leak? JK. Just being an ass. I concur with the caliper, tho I've seen collapsed hoses, plugged lines & faulty abs HCU's. Not too often...
