Factory temp gauge inop

The temp gauge pretty much quit working except for momentarily when under hard acceleration from a stop. Any ideas what the culprit is?

Loose connection either at the gauge or inside the gauge (solder connection).

Or a bad connection at the sender...or a bad sender.

Thanks Guys. I'm hoping it's at the sender. Looks like I'm gonna have to dig out that shop manual to figure out where the sender is.
Been putting up with it for a while now. The cooling fan motor gave out on me and that was a wake up call. Still up in the air on OEM replacement or aftermarket.

I'm gonna have to dig out that shop manual to figure out where the sender is.Shop manual is kinda vague. There are two senders, one in each leg of the COT. It *appears* the one on the passenger side is for the gauge, while the driver's side one is for the PCM.

Found it! The sending unit locking tab is broke. The sending unit is located on the drivers side of the crossover tube.
