The keypad on driver's door has stopped working. What is involved in repairing/replacing this part? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Mine got lazy so I bought a new keypad a year or so ago but never installed it!!:shake:
I think you simply remove the inner panel and it's pretty much "Plug 'n Play" from there?? There appears to be a spring clip holding the pad to the door??
Maybe someone who's done it will chime in....subscribing!!

Ive never had to replace the whole thing but I've messed with it before
Take off door panel and set aside
Behind the key pad inside the door will be a metal clip that hols the key pad against the metal it slides to the right I believe.
Once removed you should be able to pop the keypad out from the door, the connector is somewhere inside the door panel :confused:
This is what I did when I pushed on of the button down to hard and popped the key pad out of place.
Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the replies. I was unsure as to whether a new keypad would be "Plug-n-Play." Please post up if there are other factors that should be considered.

I replaced my MMs keypad with one out of the 2002-2005 Explorer. The inner portion is the same as the MM.

Buy one from the dealer. Its easy to change, assuming you know how to remove and replace the inner door trim. My 2000 Grand Marquis is on its 3rd one, Marauder still working well with its original.
