So I've had the Check Engine light on for awhile now, also had an exhaust leak for some time now. So I had the exhaust leak finally fixed and the guy ran the codes while he was at it. It was my hope the light was triggered by the leak but that was not the case. The test came up P0171 and P0456. I know what they mean but are these common? The body has 140K miles on it, and the engine was a swap where if the mileage is correct that they told me, should now have less than 60K miles on it. Are there any simple solutions common to these codes? Any guess on cost to repair? I haven't done an emissions test in awhile so I'm betting I'll be due sooner than later and a CEL is an automatic fail.

P0171 was likely fixed by fixing the exhaust leak but you'll have to clear the codes and drive it to see. The exhaust leak can often times ingest some air which results in the 02 sensor showing lean.

The Evap leak could be as simple as a bad gas cap that doesn't do a perfect seal but it could be anywhere in the Evap system.

I still have the stock gas cap on her, do they tend to wear out? It feels like it clicks securely in place.

Just because it clicks doesn't mean the seal is good. Try cleaning the seal and the mating surface of the filler neck.

If that's not it, check the Vapor Canister Solenoid in the black tray under the trunk. It gets bunged-up with road dirt...

I like that tip! It sounds easy and cheap.

A mechanic told me 0456 is most likely the filler neck to the gas tank being bad, the plastic liner you put the pump in cracks around the edges and throws the code, and also said he thinks they're unique to the Marauder. Anyone had this problem? Is the part available?

No part of the fuel tank is unique to the Marauder.

What plastic liner? All metal in there.

The plastic ring right where the gas pump goes in. Supposedly that cracks and ya get an evap code. Also, today the Marauder started to idle high at stops, at about 800 RPM, and upon initial start up, would not go below 1200 RPM even after warming up a few minutes. It also seems to be hitting higher RPMs before shifting. I'm told that's the definate sign of a bad vacuum line. Anyone know which one exactly? Remember, bank 1 is coding as running lean.

The gas tank filler neck is metal, there is a rubber o-ring where it enters the tank.

Check all the vacuum lines in the engine compartment. Also check the vacuum tank on the left inner fender liner.

When speaking vehicles....

:dunno:Sorry! I'm mechanically illiterate! That's why I'm always here when I have Marauder problems, they're probably stuff not in any way special to the car, I just don't know anything beyond oil changes...:depress:
