I've purchased three of those products, two did not last as long as they claimed and the other was no where near as bright as they claimed.

That's exactly why there is the lawsuit.

I had silverstars in my civic back in the day, they were great! For about 6 months....until one went out. For the price of silverstars you can get an hid kit nowadays, a little more involved then replacing a bulb, but worth it. Id never buy silverstars again.

Got silverstars in my stock headlamps, stashed away in a box, they worked ok when I had them in the car, not a big deal to jump into a law suit to score a couple of bucks. But for those that feel wronged by Sylvania, jump on board.

I posted up about those SilverStar POS bulbs years ago.
I knocked/bad mouthed them whenever I got the chance in order to save someone else the trouble that I'd gone through with them.
I even called Sylvania and got them to send me a new set of bulbs because I had gone through 3 sets of those overpriced things in under 2 years....
The replacement set that they sent me lasted......6 months!....:shake:
Total JUNK!!
I went back to PIAA and haven't replaced a PIAA bulb in ANY of my 3 vehicles that I run them in.

I have SilverStars in The Blackbird...been there at least 8 years.
I put SilverStar Ultras in Mary's car when we got it and they've been there a long damn time, too. The only thing is the Ultras were not worth the price differential over the plain SilverStars.
Having said all that, I have GE NightHawks cued up for replacements. Daniel Stern gives them a good rating.

Yes they are but by the luck of the Irish they seem to be the best bulbs Sylvania ever made. I am still running my original set I installed 5-6 years ago.
The lawsuit is really to do with their headlights. The regular Silverstar bulbs are brighter than stock but thats due to burning hotter, more heat = shorter life span. The Silverstar headlights I used lasted one year and both low beams went out at the same time, left me stranded about 60 miles from home one night. The Silverstar H1 foglight bulbs last maybe 100 hrs. The Silverstar Ultra's are better than stock but not as bright as the regular Silverstar even though they claim "30% brighter", definitely not worth $10 more than the regular ones.

Gotcha. Yes I'm happy with my corner lamps as well. My fog lights used to burn out all the time. Glad I switched to HID

I'm running Sylvania ZXE's in both the headlights and fog lights for the past year with no burnouts, and they're very bright and white :)

Something tells me I'm gonna regret filling that out, but we'll see what happens.
I wish Hella still made decent headlight bulbs. Had some in the Superduty, lasted 5 years and could land airplanes from across town.

Are the ZXE bulbs included in the 'short life - not as bright as advertised' category?
