This may be a dumb question but is there a front & back side to the rear upper & lower control arms ?

On the OEM control arms, yes

Aftermarket arms from Sparta or Metco, no

Wrong. There is a front and rear side to each control arm for metcos atleast. (Bam! Fist punch to mebots face!)

Zack and Mack arms = yes. Slight angle and fitment difference.

Yeah, the upper Metco's are different on one end, and all of the Metco's have the grease fittings statiegically placed for access which also determines the lower arms mounting location.

Once you box the stock control arms , (weld two together) they are reversible
